My first ride to Colorado from Central California

Pretty much any road in BC is a good road. There are wide open spaces and there are 1 lane roads with a wall on one side and a shere dropoff on the other side. There and also FREE ferry boat rides that are part of the road system.

P.S. I'm in Eureka, NV. I will finish off Hwy 50 tomorrow at Reno.

I hoped to ride 50 to Eureka but lightning storms on 50 kept me going south/west on highway 15. How do you like 50 so far? I here it is a road worth riding.

All of Hwy 50 was nice road. West of I-15 was more ups and downs. The road would go up to 6500+ ft in elevation and go thru some curves and down with more curves to a huge high prairies.




Gas was 111 mile to one town and other towns were pretty far apart too. And not cheep. Most of the towns had quite a selection of motels and food. Gambling of course; in NV.
All in all: yes I'd do it again. I'll bet doing it (50) the other direction would be a totally different road. ENJOY

I love the very blue skys and very white clouds that are all around east of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Thanks for the feedback on highway 50.

Great ride report! I got to ride Trail Ridge Rd. Monday and again Tuesday.



Amazing how quick the weather can change. I encountered thunder snow for the first time ever.

I thought Trail Ridge Road in the Rocky Mtn National Park was amazing. At 12,200 ft, it is the highest paved road I have ever been on.

We saw thunder, hail and lightning but no snow. Guess you were just lucky.

I would be really curious to see what Leadville, Co looks like in January.

If any of you who live in Colorado near Leadville can take a few pics and post them, that would be great. It is always great to see what these places look like at different times of the year.
