A Pashnit Motorcycle Tours Experience

"How did you find all these roads?" he asked. It was a genuine question.

It was a question rooted in a bit of wonderment, a bit of bewilderment, and a bit of awe. See, we'd just spent the last 2-1/2 days on one twisty road after the other. Roads that stretched on with one curve butted up against the next.

Hmmm. I had to think about how to answer that one for a second. "Well, I've simply crossed them all off one at at time." I replied. "The whole state." Maybe the answer was simpler than you might think. A bit of time (years), a couple gallons of gas (hundreds), and a few tires (lost count), it can be done.

The result? A Pashnit Motorcycle Tour for the ages -- hand-picked roads all glued together through the jaw-dropping Sierra Nevada mountain range. This tour was different. Instead of oceans (the Pacific) or sweeping fields of green grass (Marin County), every turn held a new vista, and what ensued, beyond that turn, was but another turn. A repeating theme that resonated throughout this ride.

The riders came on larger bikes this time. Maybe purely by coincidence, maybe for some cosmic reason, the group was evenly matched.

Frank again teased and taunted me with his R1. Frank had come along on the previous tour of Northern California, and before the ride was over, had decided to come on the very next ride! The camera couldn't keep its lens off the bike.

Dick & his son, Shaun, came as a Father - Son pair. Dick runs a HVAC (heating ventilation air conditioning) business from the Bay Area. He specializes in interesting jobs and has seen the inside of missle silos and other unique undertakings while helping keep both folks and equipment cool.

Jeff on the BMW RT- the third link in the Dick & Shaun combo (he works for Dick). He came on a sweet BMW RT, he'd had it for a mere 6 months, but had racked up 12,000 miles on it already.

Ray called me at the last minute and squeezed onto the ride. He's been riding motorcycles for decades and came on his flawless Harley V-Rod. Much like the R1, the camera couldn't take its eyes off the georgeous V-Rod. What a looker. Ray also hailed from the Bay Area and is the Asst. Financial Planner for the City of Fremont. Ray also had a Helmetcamera.com setup with a button linked to his finger. Anytime he wanted to film, he just clicked the button. Looking forward to checking out some of his footage.
