Tourmaster Synergy killed my battery with nothing plugged in.
Anyone using Tourmaster's Synergy line? I picked up a pair of gloves on Friday. On Saturday I connected the power adaptor leads to my battery (in the SV650). This morning my battery was almost completely dead. Nothing was connected to the Synergy power lead so there was nothing left turned on. Has anyone else ever experienced this? I disconnected it from the battery and now I'm afraid to reconnect it.

Re: Tourmaster Synergy killed my battery with nothing plugged in.
Because I don't own a car and I need to get back and forth to work.
I've got the battery on the charger now. I'll look at it tomorrow after work I guess. The only thing I can think of is that one or both of the terminals is touching the inside of the seat. I'll electrical tape them and see what happens. Other than that I don't know where voltage can escape from. It's just a Y adaptor with a plug at the end of it that's not connected to anything. |

Check everything for unintended continuity...there's always the possibilty that one of the supplied bits is faulty.
At least you didn't discover the problem at work, when you were about to ride home.

There must be a short somewhere.
When I installed my heated grips I installed a relay in the main power line so they only have power when the bike is on. That way there's no chance they can get left on by accident. |

That's why I'm afraid to reconnect it. I don't want to get somewhere and not be able to get home. Though that's what taxis are for I suppose.

I got the automotive relay at Radio Shack. All you have to do is splice it into the main power lead, and run another smaller line from anything that has power when the key is on. I used the license plate light circuit since it was handy. The trigger power for the relay doesn't have to have lots of current just enough to trigger the contacts.

Interesting. I'll have to look into that.
