closing out 2009 with the Ural

I've ridden in colder conditions but not for such extended periods of time....it was cold. First time I ever resorted to placing my fingers on the boxer engine's jugs to stave off the cold.

Still, the pics I got made it worth the pain....I hope you agree.

Full details and all the pics are here: LINK

Re: closing out 2009 with the Ural

Very cool ride report - sorry, I had to get that one in. Beautiful scenery and nice pics. I've ridden in snow, sleet and hale (sometimes at night), but never in such cold temps.

Thanks for the write-up.

Re: closing out 2009 with the Ural

This is creeping me out...

I have a Russian exchange student in the house this year and his parents have just invited my family to visit Russia and tour Moscow and St. Pete with them this summer.

There has also been some discussion between the students father and me about copping a pair of used Urals with sidecars and doing a three-day backroad tour, too... they are dirt cheap over there. Jeez. Do I not need a Russian motorcycle in my garage but I feel it happening.

BTDT, Dom....except grabbing the sides of a Honda 750 block with "state of the art" (for 1976) Gore-Tex riding gloves doesn't work out too well..

Great write up and fantastic photos !!
