speed and strength mesh jackets

hi,

well summer time is coming and after I got me a mesh jacket (was on sale, so I thought why not try how it works) I also wanted to get one for the girl. It would be her first jacket for the hot california summer.

And the problem is that we encountered was, that she only fits into speed and strength, nothing else. Either the arms are to long, or it's not possible to close the jacket.

Now I googled a bit and there are barley any informations put about this brand, do you guys have any experience?

thanks a lot,

gert

Look into the Joe Rocket Ladies line. Vanson also has some nice stuff.

Ladies gear is a nightmare to find. Find it in a store then Ebay. (As much as I like to support our local dealers.)

Sizing is all FUBARED so don't buy without trying on!

Donna (Demenshea) has some good Ladies stuff listed on her blog.

well we found a the jacket and she looked pretty happy in it. I just refuse to buy something in the states were I don't know much about it.

If somebody would have an idea about this brand with some real life experience like:

I crashed in one of there jackets and it hold up great except that the protector are bad. Well that's good, we can always replace the protectors. The other way would be great protectors, but the mesh just falls apart. This would be bad.

I found one online review about there leather jacket, but that's way to different to compare. I'm start to considering just buying a jeans jacket for her and put some bohn armor below it. Would maybe the best compromise (and the most expensive)

we tried:
  • firstgear
  • icon
  • alpine stars
  • frank thomas
  • joe rocket

and there were all no go. Only somewhat fitting jacket was this one

now I'm not even talking about pants. A whole other nightmare...

My wife likes Fieldsheer as their woman's line is cut for a woman's curves.

I do not recommend mesh as it will melt and you will actually get better cooling out of a well vented jacket with a cooling vest.

Re: speed and strength mesh jackets

I have the Speed and Strength Hell n Back Jacket. I love it.

http://www.ssgear.com/products/men/textile/hnb.html

The only issue that I had was the main zipper broke, they took care of me and sent me a new jacket. They are made by a designer that used to work for Alpinestars.

I have worn it in 100+ degree weather and is super comfortable. The sleeves zip off but it has mesh sleeves underneath with elbow protection. I've also worn it in windy, cold and rainy situations. It does a great job. I haven't gotten wet at all when riding in the rain.

It has a camelback for riding in hot weather. You can really adjust it for all temps. If your riding in mild weather and it gets kinda hot just unzip a few vents while your riding and your all good.

It is a great jacket and I would definitely buy another one.

Re: speed and strength mesh jackets

Lots of Ladies First Gear stuff at amazing prices at Newenough.com...
they'll give you an extra 10% off next purchase if you have to do an exchange, and exchanges are easy breezy, btw. I will say try to buy as quick as you can before the sizes sell out, because they do.

I love Newenough with all my heart and soul.
Now if they would only get serious armoured leather pants for women in my size, but it's up to the mfg's to make them for anything other than stick girls.

Or, I could shell out a grand for a set of custom vanson, but I'm losing weight quickly, so not a wise financial move for me at this point.

SS is a newer mid to high quality brand thats just starting to take off.
Locally its been pushed by the tucker rocky and all the dealers in the local area now carry the stuff..
the Mesh jackets they have hold up about as well as all the other mesh jackets.
the leather jackets are very nice.. and their gloves are nice as well.
obviously mesh doesnt provide the same degree of abrasion protection that leather does, but at reasonable street speeds in most cases, it will hold up.

as far as mesh jackets go, the SS ones are high quality.. but I personally dont like mesh jackets. primarily because I'm dumb and often going un-reasonable street speeds.
