4 County Day Trip!

My First Road Trip Document w/ Pic.’s
Hope that you like this I went out today and realized towards the end of my ride I had traveled two state’s and four counties! My wife and I were supposed to be in Morro Bay this week ( thanks for the suggestions from my post.) but unforscene medical situation blew that vacation she’s OK!
So I went for a Spin Headed out on Charleston Blvd west my first destination in the background! Here is another picture a little closer. Entering Red Rock Conversation Area it’s a 10 mile loop that tie’s into Hwy. 160The next 4 photos were on this loop also trying different shots at the same place, I think I like the one where you see more of the Mountain

Now I’m headed West again on Hwy 160 and you are looking at the end of the Spring Mountain range. Again same place different photo’s. This is where I will pass over the hump to Pharump and leave Clark County and enter Nye County.

At the top is a bar and destination point Mountain Spring Bar. People ride and hang out there during the summer as it is very cool compare to the valley at 110F during the summer. This whole parking lot is filled and there is more parking to my right . The burnout pit is new so will see later how entertaining it is. Also if you ride the Pink Elephant I think they make a lot of fun of you! They have Volley Ball and Bands quite a unique place and you never know what will be going on up there!
Do any of you now about Front Site well here it is that shot is looking North and this one is looking west on the road to Tecopa.

Well as you travel along this rode which parallels the Old Spanish Trail used by the settlers to get out West. Looking East this pic show’s the actual trail where the settlers would have traveled over this rise headed west ( I know because when I was out exploring and doing the OHV thing I went on a trail ride in the area and the host was an avid history buff and about 50 of us spent the day in this area soooooooooo much history in this area ). Looking West in this photo is what the settler’s would have seen after coming over the rise . Quite a fantastic adventure our fore fathers were living!
The next 7 pictures are coming into Tecopa and the leaving Tecopa The first one shows Tecopa in the distance and then travelling thru town. The hot springs are supposed to be fantastic. At one time many people would come here for the healing properties of the springs.

I've been to the Mountain Spring Bar, it's not too bad. Is the Pioneer Bar still in business out by Jean?

Having travelled west of town the valley opens up and now I’m headed towards CA 127 if I remember right. As usual the pic.’s don’t do the scenery justice. Also somewhere along the way I saw the Inyo County sign which means that I have travelled thru 3 counties.

After turning south on hwy 127 I came across Dumont Dunes recreational area you can see the sand hills out in the distance and there are frequent events out here in the cooler months!
After I passed the dunes I came across a couple of worker’s on the way to Baker. I bet they are glad it’s only 72 degrees out today.
After flying past a CHP at about 80 mph going the other direction I slowed down and was glad that whatever he was doing did not include turning around and asking me what the emergency was!
If you have never stopped at the Mad Greek give it a try, get’s really busy on weekends. The food is good and generous the menu has something for everyone! I do not think I saw one Greek working there though!

After I finished my lunch I hit the big road and beat feet back to Vegas oh and by the way I was in San Bernardino County. Here are a couple of creative pic’s that I took Back on the Old Spanish Triail.

Thanks to Mat's post and a little help from him I have been able to do something new hope you enjoy and if life is good my wife and might det to meet some of you at the event this summer.

Yes the bar is still there and doing well. If you can when you come here and your travel plans bring you up thru Searchlight you can head west out of town to Nipton stop at that bar then catch I15 in to Jean exit and hit that bar and then into Vegas and hei many bars.

Went for a spin? Some spin! Being out on a lonely desert highway, I can understand letting the horses run. Nice ride report and pics. Thanks for sharing.
