From Oregon to the Grand Canyon and beyond
We are getting very close to blast off day and a 2 week motorcycle vacation. We are ready. My wife and are looking forward to some time away from work and some traveling. Neither one of us have been to the Grand Canyon, so this will be a great adventure. The weather report is looking like we will be leaving Oregon in the rain. We have all the gear in water tight bags tied to the sissybar. I bought a netbook to post here on Pashnit and do internet research. Last year when I did my Coast to Coast trip I took a full size laptop, but this year space is limited with two peoples gear.
Here is our electronics and charging bag. ![]() I did not want to run out of camera battery power (part of the time we will be camping). Lots more to come, KEN |

Re: From Oregon to the Grand Canyon and beyond
Friday is here. I am home and all I need to do is put on the riding gear. My wife just texted me and said she should be home around 2:30. The bike is loaded and ready.
![]() The weather is sort-of ok ( it is doing the slight scattered shower thing). Maybe; we will be rolling by 3PM. We have a B & B for tonight in Tulelake already reserved. The only other reservations we have are at the South and North Rim Campgrounds. See ya down the road, KEN |

Re: From Oregon to the Grand Canyon and beyond
We left Springfield at 3:05. Here is a loaded Harley.
We went up Willamette Pass (58) towards 97 and CA. ![]() We got a little wet, but not too bad. Diamond Peak was clouded in a bit. ![]() Dinner was a very good burger and frys here in Chemalt, Or. ![]() They have a few old (copy) signs ![]() Klamath Lake was still there and so were the bugs. ![]() ![]() More to come if we have internet. |

Day 2
Tulelake, CA. to Portola, CA. 289 miles We didn't leave the Fe's B & B in Tulelake until 10. We were talking with a traveling couple from Germany and a gal (Leah) from Ca. and then cleaning the midges (BUGS) of the windshield and front lights. The thick carpet did not want to come of very easily. ![]() Front lowers ![]() We went from farm land to forest to mountain again and again. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Re: From Oregon to the Grand Canyon and beyond
We went thru Mt Lassen NP. I earned a Volunteer NP pass from doing 500 hours of volunteer work at Willamette Backcountry Ski Patrol and Crater Lake Ski Patrol, so we get in free to all the National Parks that we visit.
