The Official 2010 Pashnit FALL Gathering Thread - Oct 16th, 2010

Well I finally made it home. Rain at Grapevine & Newhall & Tejon passes.
I had to omit my trip east from Visalia to Springville & Kernville, again. Some other time I guess.
5 days for the Pashnit gathering ride. That's about right for me. 2 days up there, and 2 days back, and one day there.

Irene, Mike and I were at the hotel and talked some to you. Nobody that I talked to ask for ANY directions. I didn't have a problem with anybody at the hotel. I guess some Yankees don't get along with those Southerners!! Glad you had a safe and good ride.

No, I had no intention of asking anybody for directions out there. I had read about 3 major posts about the directions and memorized them.
But there were a number of people who kept giving me links to the directions to be sure that I could find the place. Or mentioning that I needed to ride with someone out there to find it.
I had no problem finding it.
I saw no one on the road out there. About 6 or 8 riding out as I rode in.
And when I got there, 5 people there. But lot more showed up later.
It's the journey, not the destination. But it's a fine looking destination.

I had a fun time at the gathering, putting names to faces, it was my first. I had a great ride down from Burney, stopping in at the Triumph dealer in Reno and taking the new Sprint GT for a test ride. I originally planned to ride Hwy 89 south to Hwy 88, but in Quincy I changed my mind and detoured to Reno via Hwy 70.

Saturday was fun riding around the area, North-South Rd is a blast, but I missed the bar-b-que and a lot of people who came up for the day only. Suggestion, hold the bar-b-que later in the day so we can more enjoy riding around the area.
Mark and Judy were very gracious with their campsite and stories. Mark and I (both early birds) enjoyed conversation at the morning campfire saturday.

Ron and ?? (sorry I've forgotten your name already, it's hell getting old) enjoyed the Saturday Night At The Movies and all the popcorn ( I must have eaten enough to float a battleship).
Nathan and Casey, what a blast to meet both of you.

John with his motorhome and TV, thanks for being the first one to meet at the gathering.
And finally I met Tim after all these years. Tim was one of the first to sign onto my NorCalSportbikes Yahoo group site.
Mike from LA/Bay area, it was nice to meet you. You bring a lot of enthusiasum to the sport.

It seemed like a small gathering compared to the other gatherings that I read about, but it was a lot of fun regardless. Maybe the single event per year idea will allow bigger events in the future, I hope I can make it to more in the future.

I just realized by reading another thread that I confused Mike with David1. It was Mike that I met, not sure if I met David1 and Mike is not from LA. Oh well, that's what gatherings are all about, meeting so many people you can't remember them all.

So if you look at the title of this forum, we've assigned a date to the next Pashnit Gathering of July 16th, 2011.

This is the weekend before MotoGP next summer. Long way off, but this time it'll be in the middle of summer.

Well poop! I won't be making it to that one either. Sharrill and I are planning a trip back east to see my folks and it looks like we'll be traveling around that time. Ces't la vie. I'll make it to another one someday.

Mike it was great to meet you and everyone else. Had a great time went back over ward's ferry and found it to be a great road, slayed the dragon and hit rain in Oakhurst.
