Mike,

Totally cool pics and ride. I've done Going to the Sun road over Glacier in a rental car way back and have dreamed since of doing it up over a couple days on my bike. Guess I'll have to wait for the thaw now. Thanks for the inspiration!

Re: Hello ,pashnit - Photography from Montana

I was lucky and had the top of the beartooth all to myself for close to 45 minuets. Made a cup of coffe and a . A day of yellowstone was enough. Luckly I wasnt stuck in the 20mi. traffic jamb a couple of buffalo made. Made my way north and made camp at A campground by the Garet ghost town. I set up and head up to the campstore. I return and a bear is making his way across the campsite to my bike. It dawns on me that I left the beefjerky in the bag straped to my bike. Like a bear to beef The beast sticks his snout right in my bag and I take action because I did not come this far to have yogi eat my ride. I raised my arms and said "Get Outta There Bear" He remained unfazed. I repeated it louder calculating the distance between me and him and the bathroom door in the campstore. Finally he understands and leavs the jerky and bike behind intact. I feel good about my victory untill I realise that I am the only one in the whole camp that is not sleeping encased in steel tonight.

Re: Hello ,pashnit - Photography from Montana

ezybeemer - when I first glanced at that top photo of the lake I thought it was one of the Twin Lakes at the top of Hwy 212 at the Beartooth Scenic Highway, but I'm guessing now that I was wrong. Tonight I was playing with the Topo Keyhole 2KT Program from Google of that same area and checked out what that program showed for the same area. I'm going to be using one of these programs for planning more of my routes so I wanted to see how close they were to the real thing....

Great Place up there in that region and super motorcycle rides...

Twin Lakes just adajent to Hwy 212 - Beartooth Scenic Highway

Topo view of the same area on Keyhole 2LT (the yellow line on the right is Hwy 212 and the white line is the state border with Montana on the far side and Wyoming closer in. This view doesn't look as clear here as it does on my computer - regretably)

Map View of that area looking down on Keyhole 2LT

Off in the distance in the upper center, the sharp point is the Bear's Tooth

The first post in the thread is a lake on Hwy 212 heading north from Cooke City. The second water shot is just before the peak, and the 3rd is just past the peak parking area.
