Once again I had a good time at Sopiago Springs and the (last) Fall bi-annual Pashnit Gathering.

Texas and I headed up Thursday with my RV, mountain bike & R100GS BMW in tow. We arrived about 1:30 and were greeted by John (FastFar) the caretaker of the place.
His dog, Chowder, was also there and as soon as the sniffing and circling intro was done Chowder and Tex spent the next 4 days playing until their tongues were hanging low and panting was fast.





I set up camp (well, OK, unloaded the RV)



Skip to Saturday morning Sunrise colors over Mark’s (Lawdog) tent.

Jimmy arrived and put his nice Yammie smoker rebuild on the stage.





It did draw some attention.



Since the colors “kinda” matched I put my old 88 R100GS in a face off.

A little later I was putting around on the GS and bumped into Tim who was riding his Hypermotard around. He asked if I wanted to ride some of the motocross track. Sure, why not!

We did about ½ lap and then came to the hillclimb. Stopping Tim asked if I thought I could make it on the Beemer. Oh, hell yeah, and off & up I went.
Quickly fumbling for my camera at the top I got this (blurry) shot of Tim as he topped the hill climb.



Then we proceeded to go the rest the way around the MX track







We did go around the mud obstacles as these bikes are just too heavy to wrestle thru mud.
It was a hoot.

Meanwhile back at camp they were filling up the campfire pit… Sopiago style.



Uh oh… log jam. No problem there’s enough Pashnites around to clear the problem.



Even Tim (Pashnit) stopped riding the dirtbike long enough to oversee the unloading.



As the sun set Nathan tossed some fossil fuel onto the fire to get it stoked.



Eventually the other pit got lit and folks started strolling in for the heat, light and friendly conversations and story telling.
And popcorn and movies.

A peach cobbler was cooked up in a dutch oven over coals from the firepit.

It sprinkled a little Saturday evening but not enough to chase people away.

Sunday morning I glanced past my RV and saw some unexpected color thru the trees.



I walked away from the RV to get a better view…

I also noticed that Nathans KLR had picked up a hitchhiker.





If you haven’t seen it before the trailer Nathan built for his KLR is pretty cool!





I packed up and departed before the rains started here.
I did get rained on from about Pioneer to San Jose.
Another fun getaway to Sopiago Springs in the books!
