And thanks to all of you who have served on this Veteran's Day

Hope you didn't think anyone forgot! Thank you all very much for your service; it is greatly appreciated. My father volunteered for a tour of Europe courtesy of the US Government and participated in a little beach holiday at Anzio. He successfully survived to come home - he was fond of saying that after WW2, it was all downhill after that.

I saw this in the Wall Street Journal today:

Soldiers Armed With Pencils and Paint
This Veterans Day will see the usual parades, flyovers and remembrances. But there are two new ways this year to honor the everyday sacrifices of our men and women in uniform: "Art of the American Soldier," at Philadelphia's Constitution Center, features 200 never-before-seen works; meanwhile, the Air Force Art Program is celebrating its 60th anniversary with more than 250 works on display at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force.

[Also] on display here is a work, "Treacherous Corner," by current Army artist-in-residence Master Sgt. Martin J. Cervantez. At first glance, it is simply a Humvee moving along an Afghan mountain pass. But as you study it, you realize that it really captures the precarious nature of our mission there. The Humvee is hugging the cliff, trying not to slip over the edge into a 1,000-foot crevasse. At the same time, it's sharing the road with Afghani peasants walking nearby, trying not to push them into the abyss. The road ahead—the destination for both the soldiers and the civilians—is murky and unclear. It's a truly marvelous piece.

I thank you all so much.
