I love seeing old threads revived!! Thanks everyone. Bill and I had a wonderful ride, and I must say I did learn alot about dirt riding!

Go North nex time and ride, BC, Yukon, and Alaska, visit "Eagel claw camp ground" in Toke for a great camp ground, do Top of the World highway to Dawson City. You realise how big a world we live in when you ride up there.

Having lived in Alaska for 18 years, I have had the chance to experience just how big and open it is!! Alaska is an amazing place as is the road up to Alaska. I have not ridden it on a motorbike, but have driven it on a few occasions as well as taken the ferry to Haines and driven from there.

It's a personal goal to ride there and see some friends! Good suggestion!

Re: Riding North...a team adventure to Canada

Just read your whole RR... nice trip! Im hopeful to do a Banff ride coming up soon and see all the sites.

I lived in OR for 10 years and loved riding thru most of the areas both of you split out upon. Shaniko... wow that brings back some memories of the ABATE Round up days riding out that way. The Gorge is a beautiful place DM... how could you possibly say 'boring'??? Riding the Washington side is actually much better for riding than site seeing. Detroit lake was always one of my favorite rides going out the Santiam Hwy - before it got taken over by weekenders. The cutoff between Oakridge and either Cottage Grove or Roseburg is a handful. We did alot of dirt biking with four-wheeler fuel support trucks following close behind around those parts back in the day. And them boys in the woods gave you some good advice little lady... lol Without a good GPS you were bound to be lost in those woods. That is the Umpqua National Forest you know?....

Thanks for the memories and prelude of ride times to come!

Re: Riding North...a team adventure to Canada

I felt that given we lost our mate and riding buddy, Bill, that this thread should resurface so that we could share his wicked humor, good will, and photos. Let's have a toast this evening sharing a good single malt in his honor.

Godspeed m'mate. I'll see you in the hereafter.

Re: Riding North...a team adventure to Canada

Hello Donna, well done I enjoyed that story the first time seemed a little sweeter today. Life is such a wonderful gift full of moments like this trip of you and Bill. Yet it can have such sad moments too. Ones that tug at the heart but to get that tug of sadness means we have felt the love of another either in their touch or their story. I'll have a toast in Bill's honor tonight, all the best...Rick
