Oh yes, did you get a name for the yellow blob on wheels? It looks like one I saw in Switzerland a few years back called a Peraves Ecomobile with a BMW K series engine.... http://eco.peraves.ch/peravese.htm

We travelled seperate to the bikes , we got the TGV which took about 4 hours and the bikes travelled through the night and then we collected them the next morning from the terminal in Paris.
Not sure what the weird bike was but it had an old GSXR slabside lump in it , we did see a couple of them whilst in Switzerland

Excellant report Neil. You will see some great reports on here with amazing photo shots but i do enjoy the quite essential English shots of 2 or 3 bikers sprawled out on the side of the road boiling over from the heat and prob wishing they didnt have that last drink !! priceless.

Done a fair few travels around Europe myself.Got a few reports on here as well. Just got a Speed Triple. So concerned about havin to chunk out some heavy miles on it to get to the zone. You mentioned the train from Paris or from Nice to Paris. Can you get that Train from one of the port areas or does it just do the main cities.Would be easier for me to lose some Motorway miles and replace with letting the train taking the strain,so when in the mountains etc i am total fresh.

I have used the Calais to narbonne service but one bike cost the same as a car, but second bike booked at same time goes free.

To get a deal like that you have to book @ 9am 90 days before you wish to travel , that is when they release the tickets , it gets more expensive as they sell tickets and space becomes limited.
Its more than worth the effort to sort out and you end up saving on tyres , fuel and a night or two on hotels so you can spend more time in the Alps or the Pyrnees

I was at the end of July, we only had rain on the last day coming from Paris to Uk .

I cant wait to get back down there next year
