Preference? Riding solo or in a group?

I read your post blog Dave and found it interesting as do I find all your stories well written and informative. I too like both ways to ride alone and with a group. Where I differ from you is the size of the group. I don't like large groups as you really do lose the ability to call a halt without creating quite a bit of chatter among the group. The Oldfarts to me are a good size for me to enjoy. We very seldom have over 15 and most of the time 10 or less and it just gels for us old dudes..........Ken

Most of the rides I take are solo. I like the idea of traveling at my own pace, or changing my route if I want. I must say though I do enjoy riding with a small group, maybe 3-5 and if everybody is on the same page then its alot of fun. I think the best thing about a group ride is when you finally get to the destination and get to enjoy the company of fellow riders.

I like both. Sometimes, there is a preference. I prefer solo when I need time for myself. I like to ride with a friend, my son and daughter or a small group. It is wonderful to spend time with others who share a common interest.

I mainly group ride with www.star186.org We have at least one weekend day ride per month of around 300 miles and will often have 20-25 bikes show up. We will split into two groups of around 10, each with a road captain and tailgunner who are in CB radio contact with each other. Many others within the group also have CB radios. We operate off of hand signals and radio and it makes for a very safe and fun ride for everyone.

I usually end up riding alone. I'm not a real fast rider & like to looky loo around.

I prefer to ride alone and most of my kms are solo. I will ride with a couple of close friends when they are available. I hate crowds and don't do rallies or the like. I also never do pubs/drink a beer when I ride.

I'm a mix... I tend to find that all three have their value. Different times call for different measures!
