I remember the man made fire fall from Glacier Point. In the early 70's, when I was a young lad, our family use to stay at Camp Curry. I recall it was an entire theatrical show with music.

The waterfall I pictured is a natural phenomenon that occurs every year for a brief time.

Got any more?.
I posted a couple more. I took several from various locations. I think we would get bored seeing the same subject over a 100 times.

This natural phenomonon occurs for about a week in February. It happens during sunset with the sun at a certain angle. For this year the last day is calculated to be Feb 23rd.

I saw on the National Parks, by Ken Burns that they once dumped coals in the falls to create a sort of glowing sparkle and Ralph is correct in that they stopped doing it due to the dangerous nature. But I bet that was pretty awe inspiring even though a bit crazy!
Thanks Donna. And yes, this happens yearly when there is water falling from Horsetail Falls. February is definitely the best time to see it. It is suppose to occur in October, also. Usually Horsetail Falls is dry at that time. It depends on weather. Without the sun, it won't happen.

Thanks for the compliment. As a kid, I enjoyed the man made fire fall too. I kinda wish it was still being done.

Re: Yosemite Fire fall

That is really cool! I saw the fake fire falls a few times when I was a kid but I've never seen this phenomenon before. Have to see it some day!
