Re: Best Modular Helmet???
The lack of a Snell cert did not deter me from buying a Neotec. While it obviously does not have the same level of protection as a high quality full-face it's miles beyond any cheap f-f. I'm willing to trade a very small amount of protection for a huge amount of comfort, and convenience.

Re: Best Modular Helmet???
Our living room was a funny looking place yesterday morning. We decided to give our new N104's a fit test, check for hot spots and generally see if we liked them enough to keep them. So we sat in our living room and had our morning coffee while wearing our helmets.
![]() The conclusion - they are lighter, have better visibility (discovered while head checking for the coffee cup by my elbow), and no hot spots!! So, N104's it is! |

Re: Best Modular Helmet???
We just returned from Death Valley.....left on Thurs. afternoon. One of the things that we both noticed with our new Nolan N-104 helmets is the opticle clarity of the face shield and the sun visor. Just crystal clear and no distortion, even if the face shield is part way open and you're viewing through it at an angle.
While we were happy with our Nolan N-103 helmets and bluetooths, Nolan has taken this new helmet and bluetooth to a whole new lever that will be hard for any manufacturer to compete with.

Re: Best Modular Helmet???
So question of the day. Well at least for all that have suggested the Nolan's. Who sells them in the Sacramento area? Wouldn't mind trying one on

Shoot me a PM with your phone number, if that sounds like something you want to do. I live in Elk Grove but work in mid town Sacramento......either are just a short ride. |

Since then I'm still buying of ebay and getting some great deals. I recently picked up a used/never worn N103 in the box for $100 and another N103, worn once, complete with bluetooth system for $75 bucks.... OK it was a fluke, and the was the deal of the century... For some reason it was listed at a 9 dollar start and a buy it now for $75.... Well duh??With Nolan bringing out the N104 there should be a bunch of 103's hitting Ebay in the next year. |

Re: Best Modular Helmet???
I just got a Schuberth C3 from Revzilla and am loving it. It was time to retire my old Nolan 102. Lighter, quieter, more airflow. The only negative is my bank account is much lighter too!

Re: Best Modular Helmet???
Just got a Nolan 104 last week, put about 500 miles on it. Hands down, best helmet I've ever worn for comfort, visibility, airflow. Looked at Schubert C3 & Shoei Neotec, too, but what on earth makes them worth twice the money? Hard to justify the extra cost unless you've just gotta have that brand name, I guess. Incidentally, Shoei & Schuberth got 3 star SHARP ratings; Nolan got 4

My brother Ric (Tanstaafl) had his Shoei Multi-Tec modular helmet tested pretty well on a warm sunny day last November. He was riding home from work and an idiot in some kind of car (100% fault assigned to cage driver) caused his spleen to liquify and broke 7 ribs and a scapula. Ric became airborne in the crash, and when he was re-introduced forcefully to the tarmac, he struck his chin directly, rolled, and was smacked again in the temporal region. The Shoei Multi-Tec modular helmet remained closed and locked, and although he received a nice long ragged zipper scar and now lacks a spleen (and spent a few months healing the skeleton), he suffered no head trauma whatsoever.
