Re: shipping a bike
Shipping is the least of your worries. Make sure you can get it registered here in California.
There's always the "Road Trip" option! |

Re: shipping a bike
I trailered one in from Az a few years ago that was registered in Vermont, and took the bike, signed off VT title, and receipt in to the DMV. An inspector checked out the vin number on the frame, and I was on my way. The Ca title came in the mail about 2 weeks later. One thing you might have a problem with... or not. Is any bike with under 7000 miles will be treated as a new bike, and you may get stuck with a higher sales tax, or is that VAT???

no vat that i know of,
but due to dmv, and all there paperwork, taxes, etc the deal is off. after some emails to the seller, even he agreed this would not go good for the deal. yes the bike was under the magical misery mileage number. so yes to the ca TAX hit. and yes if weather allowed, i would have ridden it south. would have been a fantastic ride seen some places i have not been in decades. just was not to be. tuesday maybe i will drive three hrs and look at a 02 bike?....if the sale of my rv goes through. looked at a 04 this past week and the dealer never said anything about the bike going down. and getting the damage covered..er...a....rebuilt. ![]() maybe go back and offer $1,200 less than the asking price. Re: shipping a bike
Without mentioning names, I know a guy who bought a FJR on December 1, 2011 in Nevada with 6477 miles on it. Drove it to California and rode the snot out of it in the harshest winter in 20 years for two weeks, and presented a motorcycle with 8000 miles on it two weeks later to DMV. No problemo.
