Old Hwy 58 day ride Saturday 4/14/12

A couple of locals and I are riding Hwy 58 to Morro Bay (prolly with a stop in Harmony) Saturday. Judy and one (maybe two) other(s) will be caging over so there will be a lunch in Morro Bay and a probable visit to Harmony.

Meet up;
At 07:30
Market Place (9000 Ming Av)
Starbucks

Kickstands up;
No later than 08:00 if that long.

Be fueled and ready to roll on arrival. ATGATT is mandatory and this ride would be best to pass by if you are a new rider (day trip will mean a tightish schedule).

The ride will take us to Hwy 229 (Rossi's Driveway) and Hwy 41 to Morro Bay. Return route will probably be a reverse with La Panza to Hwy 58. Logistics can be fine tuned that morning. The pace will be moderate to fast and I am a big one on making sure that Pashnit group manners are observed. That means we make sure we ride within our abilities and you are responsible for the riders in your mirrors. It also means you can blast ahead but must wait at any place the road forks to allow the group to regather stay together. Me and at least one other have 60+ year old bladders...regular pit stops will be a must.

Routing is subject to change depending on ADD or just because we can! Oh and bring your camera but know this will not be a good trip for long photo composition sessions...'cause we will be ridin'!

Wouldn't that be something? If we can manage to be in the same location at the same time that is. I'd like to be heading East before the deer start waking up.

Nah, considering the average age of this group daughters should be safe. Pastries and red meat might need to be concealed though.

Hey Matt! Fun indeed, it has been awhile since we abused pavement.

OK gang, weather says a good chance of cold rain with snow down to 4000' Friday. If the weather does not cooperate I will call off the ride. That means (in my book) if the skies say "might rain" with low odds, the ride is on. If they say "will rain" like raining as we look out the window or Google satellite shows nasty East bound, pull the plug. I probably will not be able to ride again until late Summer, at the earliest, so the motivation is high for this trip. Might want to add rain gear to your kit if it looks like "might rain". BTW, got a fresh set of Tourances and they could use a bit of traction testing anyway.

Rain permitting the camera should be along to take a few pics. The forecast is getting more gloomy by the day and while Hwy 58 rides lower than 4000' snow could be an issue just the same.
