Tofino - Long Beach Ride, Canada
Last summer when I was living on Vancouver Island I rode over to Tofino – Long Beach on the west side of Vancouver Island. I took highway 19 north out of Nanaimo and exited to highway 4 to Coombs where I stopped at the Coombs Market, unfortunately it was closed. Highway 4 from Coombs to Port Alberni twists and turns for almost its full length, it’s an awesome ride until you get caught behind logging trucks and tourists. Once you leave Port Alberni there are some nice straight sections and then you are back into the twists and turns, steeps climbs and some descents at the edge of the mountains that cause your hands to grip real tight as you twist and turn down the mountain side. Once you get to Pacific Rim National Park the road vastly improves as you head to Tofino. Tofino is a destination tourist town with a mix of tourists and surfers; it’s a very relaxed place with awesome scenery.

Great pics & what a lovely ride! I'll get up there one of these days. I like the goats on the roof. I have some friends with a sod roof but don't think they have goats. The pic of the surfboards is pretty cool also. And don't for get how fun some of those roads look!

Hello Al, I do love spending time out on the west coast of the island. We were just there again last fall with our kids, grandchild and friends for a weekend and had a blast such a beautiful area, thought I would add a few pics too.....Rick
