Touring the Rocky Mts. on a Harley
My wife and I are headed out for another epic motorcycle ride. We are headed east towards Yellowstone National Park. The scenery of the park will be accented with around 70 pre-1930 motorcycles. A Coast to Coast ride (NY to SF) called the Cannonball 2012 will me in the park on Monday the 17th of Sept. After I wear out the camera taking pictures of the bikes, riders and Old Faithful we will head further east and then south to Rocky Mt. NP, Colorado and then 4 Corners. Looking at the map, I planned the route doing as many scenic routes as possible all linked together.
The return plan is to check the weather in San Francisco and if it will be good (no fog or rain) we will go up the CA coast from the SF bridge north to Oregon and then home.

Sounds like a great trip Ken! Hope you do the million dollar highway and not in the rain like we did! Look forward to seeing your pictures!

Re: Touring the Rocky Mts. on a Harley
Hi Ally and John.
I'll be posting as we go if there is internet. And there will be scenery to capture along the Million $ hwy and the many more. I heard about Mount Evans Scenic Byway. The byway is 28 miles (45 km) in length and gains over 7,000 feet (2,100 m) of elevation. Achieving a final elevation of 14,130 feet (4,310 m), this is the highest paved road in North America. (from Wikipedia) I'll bet there is a view from up there. |

Re: Touring the Rocky Mts. on a Harley
WOW
What a ride today. Freezing cold in the morning, with fog for the last 15 miles before we got to West Yellowstone, Mt. and another 15 or 20 more miles inside Yellowstone NP. The sun started burning thru and about the same time we started seeing the old bikes. The old bikes and us were both headed to Old Faithful area. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() More later, KEN |

Great pics so far. Hate losing the typing. I can never say it as good the second time, and never remember what I said the first time...
