kind of late, but the 'fascinating' plant is an invasive species that is unliked in these parts. Crowding out natives, etc. Pampas Grass or Cortaderia. (Not the same one available in southern calif nurseries which is C. sellowiana, and supposedly sterile.)

(boo! hiss!) it is impossible to eridicate here on these steep rugged slopes. Other coastal areas have teams of plant enthusiats that do nothing but eradicate pampas grass. For fun!

Great ride, Tim, and one I have made many times on many bikes. Next week my wife Kathleen and I will be on the ST1300 heading up from Pismo. One of our favorite stops is Lucia, but its all good. We will be coming down 395 to Lone Pine, then over to Isabella and down the Kern River Canyon. After that, I hear there is a good little road leading Fraser Park over to 33, then south to Ojai.So much good riding in Central Cal. See you at Laguna Seca. Ride well. Roger.

You'll like that one Roger! Cerro Noroeste Rd is a real gem in those parts!

Looking forward to the article in an upcoming issue of City Bike Magazine.

Bob is one of the lead scientists in the United States heading up the search for neutrinos and has been to Antarctica three times. Talking to Bob would go something like this, say Bob, so what was your day at work like?

"Construction is underway for a most unusual telescope, one whose light collecting “mirror” will be buried more than a mile beneath the South Pole ice cap and will look up through the Earth to the skies above the North Pole. Called IceCube, because its sensors will encompass a cubic kilometer of ice, this telescope is designed to observe neutrinos, subatomic particles that have no charge, very little mass, and traverse the Cosmos with ease. Serving as messengers from distant violent events, high-energy neutrinos could help solve one of the oldest mysteries in astrophysics – the origin of the cosmic rays"

Uh, thanks Bob!
