Carving Canyons 2005

I'm a new person on this forum, but I've lurked and read the articles and road recommendations over the past 3 years.

My principal ride was a '95SE Gold Wing which was totalled a couple of weeks ago just north of Santa Rosa on my last 6k mile trip. This occurred when a truck & trailer pulled out suddenly in front of me and the Wing went down. My protective gear worked perfectly and I didn't suffer any injuries. It hasn't dampened my enthusiasm for touring.

The pictures of my recent trips are found at www.pbase.com/tkbowman and the daily journal of the last trip which took me through the desert and canyons of WA, OR, ID, NV, UT, CO, NM, AZ, CA, & OR is found at http://journals.aol.com/tim4gw/CarvingCanyons2005/.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Alaska solo trip in the articles section. I'd like to do that trip in some form (possibly next summer!).

Great stuff Tim,

That was some ride! I'd love to do an interstate ride here in India someday!

Really nice pictures Too bad about your crash Hope you get a set of new wheels soon and get back out on the road How is it riding in the desert? I imagine really hot or does the gold wing have AC?

Desert riding is great. We were on pavement most of the time; but we took the Wings off the pavement a few times. The most memorable was the Mokee Dugway road which is a 10% grade, 1100 foot climb in 2 miles and numerous hairpin turns AND virtually all gravel!!

It's actually only hot when one stops; otherwise, we just turn the wind vents inward and ride on.

Also, here are few more pictures from the ride. The first is Bonnie & Clyde type car I found in a field in Nevada.

This last photo is of the Wings off road at Frisco, UT (ghost town).
