Wow Chris - judging from all those pics, this looks like a very fun ride with a good variety of people and bikes.

Although this caught my eye - they look quite similiar, no?

Kent, WA averages 148 days of precipitation vs 126 sunny days
a year so the answer is no!

Seriously, you do have some killer m/c loops out there. Have just
ordered 'Motorcycle Journeys Through The Pacific Northwest' so
as to p-pl-pla-plan my own rides out there.

BTW, try to include a map or at least a description of your loop if
you can as that would be very, very, very, very, VERY helpful!

Kent is in western Washington, about 5 miles from Puget Sound, so the precip is a given.

There are a lot of wonderful places to ride in the eastern portion of Washington and Orygun State. Once you get over the Cascades, it's as dry as most parts of California.

BTW- where I grew up in Hawaii we averaged over well 200 inches per year, and a day without rain was very unusual. Would you like to be there, given the opportunity?.

Am originally from West Vancouver, B.C. and my sister
lives in Victoria on Vancouver Island. Both have more
than their share of precip, too.

Yes, there most certainly are at that. Have enjoyed
riding on those Eastern Oregon roads, and here's a
good resource: www.eova.com/byways/

Haven't been in Eastern Washington yet. Agreed, the
routes east of the Cascades aren't near as wet. Am
interested in the Selkirk Loop: www.selkirkloop.org

Are you referring to Kauai? That's where my wife's sister
lives with her husband. Have been to Kauai, Maui, and
Oahu. Enjoyed vacationing at all 3, but couldn't fight
off island fever after 10 days or so.

Great guess, but I grew up in Kailua, on Oahu, back in the 50's and 60's.

Kauai's really wet on it's windward side. The equivalent areas of all the islands are that way, as the tradewinds scrub off most of the rain before the clouds are pushed over the mountains.

We had a storm when I was in grade school that averaged an inch an hour, for almost a week. It rained so hard that conversations had to be timed between cloudbursts or written on paper if you missed your moment.
A nearby rain gauge above Kaneohe saw almost 4" in less than two hours....and it had to have been wetter in other areas further up in the mountains.

I can relate to the Rock Fever. That's why I live here on the Left Coast these days. The cost of Hawaii-nei living is steep as well, although I do miss the ocean and the great food.

Kanakaland is nice, but your riding options are limited, and the local Law Enforcement uses unmarked cars and Vascar.
