Re: Speaking of Arlen Ness...

My brother and I used to do the annual pilgrimage up to the Oakland Roadster show (into cars for many years) and fell in love with the Arlen Ness customs at those shows. That was way before all the chopper hype of today. He is the god of customs in my book.

I have loved his creations in the past (artwork) and loved what he did on the Biker Build off shows.

Thanks for the pics.

Re: Speaking of Arlen Ness...

Ness is a Master of the Art...his work is the height of custom, if not always the most practical...but if one CAN own a piece of that kinetic sculpture, no other reason needed I reckon...

Re: Speaking of Arlen Ness...

What is the point of building a motorcycle that no one is going to ride? And don't give me that, "its art" bull crap. If your not building bikes for the purpose of being ridden then you shouldn't be building bikes. There are thousands of bike buiders all over the world that are building awsome custom bikes and then getting out and riding them. Arlen Ness' motorcycles are worthless 600lb paperweights. This forum is about riding and exploring and actually enjoying motorcycles right? Something that that show-off AN knows nothing about. I can't respect motorcycles that are built by a guy that never rides them except for five seconds in front of the camera on his way to a biker build off. POSER!

Re: Speaking of Arlen Ness...

This one is one of my favorites! Reminds me of something Artemis Gorden in Wild Wild West would ride. It's really beautiful in person.

BTW ~ The Victory Demo Truck is going to be a Ness in Dublin Friday & Saturday(May 11 & 12, 2012). Arlen & Cory are in China for a Grand Opening of a new Victory Shop there!

Re: Speaking of Arlen Ness...

I went to that Victory Demo last year and had a blast. At first I thought it was going to be lame because you pick a bike and wait for the Victory rep to get on his bike and lead the way. But when the rep took off, we could hardly keep up with him. I hate to say we thrashed those demos, but we kind of did. The bike museum at the Dublin shop is worth a look. There are three generations of Ness bike builders now. Arlen, Cory, and Zack. My nephew and Zack went to school together.

Re: Speaking of Arlen Ness...

I spent the day at Ness today. Had about 10 other Victory riders come up from the Los Angeles area for this & are riding on up to Hunter Legget & onto Petaluma tomorrow. Most have never ridden much of Nor Cal so they are in for a real treat.

Kevin gave us the grand tour of the entire shop including all the behind the scenes stuff. Pretty cool. Forgot & left my camera in my bags but got a bunch of pics that hopefully came out good.

They also gave the LA Group a special Demo Ride that took them out for about 45 min thru the hills in the area. They said it was a QUITE SPIRITED RIDE!!!! hehehe They really got to put the Vics thru the tests.
