Curvy Road A ride to Tortilla Flats, Arizona Motorcycle Roads

I've ridden this road many times, it has to be the best road in all of central Arizona. Never though have I stopped and took some pictures, but after hanging out on this web site, I've been moved to stop and enjoy the scenery.
Anyway this ride is just outside the Phoenix metropolitan area on its east side. If anyone is familiar with Phoenix it's pass Mesa and Apache Junction.

This road is a one way in and one way out affair. The main draw for all the cagers is Canyon Lake, the draw for all the motorcyclist are the curves that don't end, well until the road turns to dirt for the final 30 miles to Roosevelt Damn. But you have 19 miles of good twisties with decent road conditions. In the state of Arizona you take what you get.

I'm sorry I didn't take any pictures of the lake, a little too much traffic to pull over. And when I did I discovered my cameras batteries were dead. But I did take pictures of the last section, which is the last 7 miles and the best part of the ride. NO traffic.

The last 7 miles start at the tourist trap of Torilla Flat. This was the midpoint for workers heading to build the damn. At one time the pop. was 2000, now it has a whopping 6. But these six keep up the restuarant and store, and they do a pretty good job. It makes the perfect stop after running the last section a couple of times.

You have the rain hit you hard this winter and so has Arizona, Tortilla Creek that is adjacent to Tortilla Flats hasn't flowed in 10 years. But it's been flowing lately and causing a problem with motorcyclist. No the water isn't very deep, it's the inconsideration of Arizona drivers that we have to worry about. Right after I took a picture of the Harley guys a truck blazed through and splashed the second guy pretty good.

Re: Tortilla Flats

Here are the other pics, one of the restuarant and a couple of the bikes. The red bike in the other pic is an Aprilla Touno and the blue one is a Mille.
The Touno is my next bike.

Sure it can! Right now it's beautiful here. About the only time...
This is a fun ride, but ya gotta hit it early before all the traffic. Campers, vehicles pulling boat trailers. They can be SCARY! They like to take their half down the middle.
But it's great that it's so close. Get up and head out before the heat or whatever else.

Hey Backmarker, you weren't out there last weekend were you? I met a couple of guys riding Aprillia's, one was a Touno, the other a Mille, were riding with another on a Busa.

Wasn't me. Was 2 guys from Tuscon (not sure about the Busa) up to check out my buddies 100th Anniv H-D for sale. I didn't get to ride last weekend because I was stuck being Slave of Honor in my friend's wedding. So now you know I ain't a guy either! No biggie. I wish I could ride like one... yo es el pollo grande. Too bad that doesn't fit on my license plate... Sure looked like a perfect day for riding instead...

Very nice pics. Currently in Yorktown, Va. we're having frozen rain and the temp is 32. This week should be nice (40-47 degrees), and I plan on dusting off the dirt on my GSXR-1000 and riding a couple of days this week. take care all of you, and enjoy the ride when you can.
