Took the Long Way Home Tonight
Here is what I saw this morning as I mounted my bike to leave for work. It was here that I pretty much decided that I needed a ride at the end of the day.
After work, I left Sacramento and headed down Hwy 160 along the levy roads toward Rio Vista. Most of the ride was slightly foggy, but it was refreshing to get out on the road. The Sacramento river was VERY high. Now that Maddie is back together, it is great to have her back on the road. Some parting shots. I stopped in Rio Vista for a malt and fries before heading home. By the time I got back to Dixon, it was dark, and I was riding in pea-soup fog. What a great ride!

Re: Took the Long Way Home Tonight
Jim,
What a great looking ride! I grew up in Stockton, so I spent an awful lot of time on those levee roads (in a car though). Those picture really brought back some great memories for me. Somehow though, I managed to miss that Shelby's Drive-In for all those years. Where exactly in Rio Vista is that? ~Mike |

Shelby's is on the right as you are heading out of town on Hwy 12 toward Fairfield. They have burgers and malts to die for.

Re: Took the Long Way Home Tonight
Thanks Jim. I'll have to check that out the next time I'm in the area.
Can't believe I missed it, though I didn't hit that end of town too often. Back then, I had a friend who lived there, so I'd go part way into town to pick him up, then we'd usually drive to Stockton or Sacramento to find something to do. ~Mike |

Mike,
Kind of a long ride from Henderson, isn't it?

All of my family still lives in Lodi, so when I go to visit, Rio Vista is only about 25 minutes away. I may not be able to ride the bike, but I can still run out there for a burger and fries when I'm in the area. |

Jim, Shelbys looks like a great place something about having a shake while sitting around in the glow of those familiar yellow lights. What a great bunch of ride photos.. Smitty
