Stonyford Area
Some of the roads in the Stonyford area have developed character in the recent rains. Here is a private road that I grew up on. I always look forward to the creek crossing. Not currently passable.
      Join the frequent flyers club if you don't cruise slowly up the surprising runoff ruts!   Should be interesting spring riding in Mendocino National Forest. |

Paul,
I have spent many a day cruising the trails at Stonyford, staging at Nail Track and Davis Flats. I haven't been up there for a while. It looks like things have changed a bit with all this rain. That road really washed out.

I went up this afternoon to check things out in person. There was a handful of riders on a Thursday. The paved road into Davis Flats is in a bit of jeopardy. There are distinct drops of 1-2 feet that span the distance of a car and trailor! I don't think the trails will suffer too much but I am sure going to take it easy on the access roads and OHV corridors!
I was very glad my buddy forwarded those pix of the washout. It is very deceptive on the approach. |
