Re: Be Careful and Pay Attention
Gosh Rod, can u ever give us any good news???
My heart goes out to these riders, especially after my little misjudgement last week. I was fortunate not to go down, nor be injured in any way. It is a wake up call on how vigilant we have to ride at ALL times, especially in unpredictable traffic. Highway 1 is treacherous with all the tourists, it is both beauty and beast. |

Re: Be Careful and Pay Attention
I was in Daytona in '02, 7 am raceday, a construction worker flagged me down to allow a semi to get out of a construction site, I heard a crash behind me, a Jeep Cherokee had done a similar thing(following close, no attn), He had turned right extremely hard, rolling the suv, pinning himself in, Wife and toddler on board, I used my cellphone, help was there in about two minutes, everyone was ok later, but it was scary, I ALWAYS leave a lot of space, You never know whats up the road....

Re: Be Careful and Pay Attention
ROADCRAFT is a highly developed skill that requires the utmost in reverance and modesty.
We all need reminding of just how much concentration is required to ride a motorcycle amongst all the cars and trucks (and bikes) of varying skills and lack of. It may be depressing to constantly remind ourselves of all the pitfalls some riders find, but it will serve you well in the long run to always keep these unfortunate possibilities in mind. You can never concentrate too much about roadcraft and safety while out there with all the hazards that abound these days. I ride a motorcycle in the UK where the roads are much smaller and difficult to navigate than in CA and there is much more traffic (hazards). I take on one hazard at a time, and still enjoy every ride out. Safety is the main thing, ALWAYS! Bikes are great and wonderful and so is life and health... |
