5th Street Stk Hse Chico--Still Open?

OK, another. In Chico, not far from campus on 5th Street, is (I hope) the 5th street Steak House. Built in an old corner store it's got a great bar and fantastic eats. The hostesses are usually Chico undergrads dressed up to beat all. Put your eyeballs back in their sockets and reserve a table. Don't pass up the Oak-Smoked Prime Rib. Ate there 3 years ago and still remember it. I heard a rumor last week that it is now closed. Say it ain't so!!! can anyone post and let us know? It still googles a telephone number but internet directories are not fully up to date. A great stop between HWY 20 or 36 from the coast and on your way up 32 or 70 to the Almanor or Feather area. If it is open don't figure on riding hot and hard afterwards as all your blood will be busy digesting a fabulous dinner. Not cheap but a quality bargain, with a short dinner at $17 and a full dinner at $23. Worth every penny.

Still open??

I hope so otherwise according to the Chicoer.com and Buzz Entertainment Calendar for Feb.17-23, 2005 you can't go and hear Eric and Mike on their live jazz guitars.......

"5TH STREET STEAKHOUSE: Live jazz guitars by Eric Peter and Mike Wiegert. 6 p.m. Free.

Of course you probably should take a creative trip up to Chico on your bike and find out how good everything is.....and give us a full trip report.

Lets Eat Re: 5th Street Stk Hse Chico--Still Open?

I will and thanks for reading what should have been obvious-- the music schedule. Meanwhile the Bimmer will be the excuse to go to Chico. Ozzie will service it there, whilst I feast on the ladie----er, ladels of soup. Ahem. Of course.

Hey, found your board while looking for info on 5th Street Steakhouse.

I'll be dining there this evening, so yeah, it's still there. I do think, however, that it did close for a little while a few years ago.

Hey Mustang, I've been to your place! What do you ride?

I used to live two blocks from "Jakes", I think the drunkest that I ever got was one night in that place!
I had to crawl back home...took me about two hours!
Yep...them was the days...
I haven't been back there since it's been 5th st. steakhouse.

Small world. Only giving mustache rides these days. And, if you're talking about my store next to the post office, I sold and rolled into the night.

hope it's ok to post if I don't ride anymore.

Ya, it's an even smaller cyber-world, LOL.
Yep, that's the place, I think it was the old Chamber building or something.
Hey, no need to have a bike to share the "pashin"!
One love, one heart ma brutha!

I work in Chico, and the 5th Street Steakhouse is still open...I just wish I could eat there!!!

I'm was a Traffic CSO with the PD (now back in patrol), and have written the employees there dozens (hundreds??) of parking cites...no telling what would be on my plate LOL!!!

I hear it wonderful, though (on the pricier side).

Re: 5th Street Stk Hse Chico--Still Open?

I wasn't impressed. Actually I was put off. Prime rib isn't on the menu. A standard cut prime rib eye steak is. If you want the double thick 22 oz prime rib that you're thinking of, Gold Country Casino in Oroville is better. Less expensive. Much better menu especially if you don't want beef. Want elk? It's on the menu.Gold Country will give you the white tablecloth experience but you don't need to be dressed fancy. I felt the 5th street place emphasized their bar and really was in business for the artsy and State College crowd. Don't get the six dollar salad. Wendy's side salad for ninety nine cents is better.

Well, I guess everyone has a right to their opinion...

I love 5th. Street Steakhouse. But, rather than going to Wendy's, I'd go get a Bear Burger or munch at Big Al's!
