Mad Man Muntz!

Do any of you remember Mad Man Muntz? He was a real nutcase but way ahead of the market in many cases. We bought our first TV set from Earl Muntz in 1947 I believe in Los Angeles. 8" or 9" monitor with a bubble placed in front to enlage the picture for all in the room to view. This bubble was oval shaped to enlarge what you were viewing. His method of selling was outrageous but effective and he excelled in many fields of products. It wasn't the item he sold as much as his method of merchandising. I fondly call my brother in-law John Cox "Super Jew" because of his ability to sell sand in the Sahara desert; but Earl Madman Muntz put John to shame. Some of his more outlandish mantras were........ Such quotes as "I WANT TO GIVE THEM AWAY, BUT MRS. MUNTZ WON'T LET ME.........SHE'S CRAAAZY!.......I BUY 'EM RETAIL, SELL 'EM WHOLESALE - MORE FUN THAT WAY!" ........... "" YOU TOO CAN BE A WEALTHY PEDESTRIAN!"........"JUST SOUND YOUR HORN, WE PAY BY EAR!"

Re: Mad Man Muntz!

We've still got a Muntz Car Stereo store in Ventura.

Gotta love the Madman...R.I.P.
