ktm 950 adventure
Mark/Dawg... Did you see the ride report of the ktm in May Cycleworld? (Great write up and trail test also included hp2, xr650l, and Husqvarna teG10e). Warning...you may accelerate your purchasing behavior after reading. They really liked the ktm.
p.s. I'm typing this from Corbin in Hollister. Having my 1150's seat recovered!

Re: ktm 950 adventure
At the time KTM had teething problems, some known (fuel pump/supply, sump management) some not talked about (main bottom bearings possibly related to oil circulation--This is a dry sump motor). These have been handled in upgrades/changes and warranty items were honored. At this time according to the pundits in the press the KTM is supposed to be just fine.

It will be awhile until the kitchen pass gets issued. Until then the GS is fine. Maybe before then, Japan will wise up and import some larger displacement dual sports. Any inside skinny out there? |

Re: ktm 950 adventure
Mark, I guess better late than never. The KTMs that went to Mexico in January performed as advertised. They never missed a beat, didn't use any oil and ran with the BMWs on the open road. The only drawbacks were comfort and fuel consumption. The BMWs were getting about 40 mpg and the KTooMs were getting 32ish. The guys with the KTMs also seemed to have spent a butt load of money prepping for the trip. Skidplates, handguards, crash bars, exhaust systems, jet kits, seats, luggage to replace the stock stuff and tires. While the BMWs were ready to go out of the box. The few times they rode in the dirt though the KTMs were the thing to have. Hope this helps a bit............RON
