More on Motorcycle Therapy

I started 16 weeks of chemotherapy on March 6th. While "preparing" for this lovely adventure, one thing that was reccommended to me was to visualize something I really enjoyed, and use that as a focus to get through the chemo. Well, I decided to heck with visualizing, and as long as I could, I was going to ride rather than visualize.

March 5th found me and several friends going west over some country roads to see some of Lane County's covered bridges. I was not permitted to take nearly as many photos as I wanted to, but I did get some of Coyote Creek covered bridge and Wildcat covered bridge.

That worked so well that my good Valk riding friends called me up on March 19and took me for a sweet 120 mile ride from Eugene to Sweet Home, above Foster and Green Peter Reserviors, and then back home via Hwy 99 and Junction City. We passed up 4 covered bridges on this ride.

With the rain plague, my next ride was a little shorter, but I did capture a few bridges, along with a shot of my new hair style. The first two are Pengra and Unity bridges over Fall Creek, the third is Parvin, over Lost Creek.

So far, the chemo seems to be working, and I seem to be riding!!! I have read some other posts about the value of moto therapy, and am here to say that it beats other stuff hands down!

Re: More on Motorcycle Therapy

Ally, a nice post and I love all the covered bridges. I am sorry to hear about your health and will keep you in my prayers.

Your remarks about riding therapy hit a chord with me as we (The Oldfarts) had a riding buddy that did just what you are prescribing and it worked well for him.

I posted an article about him and I will add the link with this reply.

During the transition of the Pashnit Forum to the new updated and improved site it is today, the attached pictures that were a part of the article were lost, but the message really was the important part of the story.

Hope you can benefit from it in some small way.........Ken

Great photos Ally. I love covered bridges. Something really cool about them.

Best of luck during your chemo. My friend just got done with hers and is doing quite well now. Unfortunately she didn't have moto therapy to help her thru hers. Just chocolate! Which has it merits. Will keep good thoughts coming your way. Keep riding and posting as long you can too!

Inspiring Ally - A true measure of our passion as expressed by the continuing desire to participate even when the chemical cocktail makes you feel so crappy. All the best to you.

Re: More on Motorcycle Therapy

Hey Ally, great pictures for visualization. I too am a fan of the covered bridges, so much so that a personal favorite chick flick is "Bridges of Madison County".
I hope your mototherapy and chemotherapy begin your road to healing and as Renee said, when u need it, there is always chocolate!!
Cheers,
donna

Re: More on Motorcycle Therapy

Ally, thanks for sharing with us! The great thing about moto therapy is that you get to do something you love while making yourself feel better! It just makes sense that doing something that brings a special kind of joy would help us heal.
