Shrug Question about getting stuck at red lights

So i am enjoying my new ride and learning the tricks that go along with riding, but i have a problem. When i'm at an intersection and need to make a left turn or awaiting for the light to change, it wont change unless a car rolls up behind me or next to me, anyway to add something or do something so i dont have to wait for the cars to show up?

Re: question

Look for the slices in the pavement. Try to stop the engine area of the bike over one of the sliced areas where the sensor wire is imbedded. If you don't see a difference, get one of those magnet goodies that attaches to the bike. I have heard they work.

You can also report malfunctioning signal sensors to the agency that maintains them, road dept., public works or whatever...

Re: Question about getting stuck at red lights

Has anyone actually used one of those magnets though? I got stuck at one of those type lights the other day, and waited so long, I practically put the kickstand down.

Re: Question about getting stuck at red lights

I used to have a 2 lb stereo speaker magnet ziptied to the frame on my FZR 600, worked very well.

Never used those, but I have a very strong 3/8 by 3/4 inch rare earth magnet drilled into the heal of my commuting boots. Seems to work on the troublesome signals I use daily. Just place it on the sensor loop.

What's California motor vehicle code say about this scenario?.

Up here in the Orygun sticks, you can legally treat a stoplight like a stop sign if it ignores you.

I do the same thing. After waiting a reasonable amount of time I will see if it is safe to proceed and then go. I have heard it is legal to do so in CA but I don't know for sure.

Re: Question about getting stuck at red lights

http://www.signalsorcerer.com/ Here's the website you can get em from alot of places, not sure how well they work. But I've been stuck before too, and I just wait till it's safe and go if no cars show up and trip it for me.
