Carpe Sunshine- Oregon Coast
With a surprising weekend of sunshine, we seized the weekend, and took the bikes to the Oregon Coast for a weekend. The wind was blowing from due north at about 40 mph, so the trip from Eugene to Florence to Yachats has no photos as we were simply trying to get there. We stayed at a friend's house in Yachats (population 650, and halfway between Florence and Newport). We did get out on Saturday, and get some ocean pictures and one lighthouse, Historic Yaquina Head Lighthouse
These are from several state parks south of Newport

Re: Carpe Sunshine
Part Two. I hate it when I hit the wrong button...
These are from in front of Lotus House, where our friend has a tattoo studio in the back. (Shameless plug for Turtle Island Tattoo here!! )On the way home, we took Hwy 34 east from Waldport (8 miles north of Yachats) and stopped along the way at Alsea Falls. Hwy 34 is a good motorcycle road...we saw about 30 westbound bikes on our way home. These are of Alsea Falls It was a nice 220 mile trip, all new roads. And I do have other interests than covered bridges.

Re: Carpe Sunshine
Yechhh! 40 mph winds, prolly from the side or a head wind...that's some of the toughest riding there is...
Nice pics tho, that's my favorite part of Oregon...the sunny part

Re: Carpe Sunshine
Another great ride and pics Ally. I always love riding new roads, especially when they aren't goat trails (sorry all of you goat lovers
). Sounds like you had a great time. I enjoyed the read and the pics - Thanks for sharing

Re: Carpe Sunshine
I'll take sunny/windy over cloudy/rainy anytime!! Nice looking ride. What's the area like for a CA rider thinking of relocating? Tired of rip-off $$ of everything down here. chipperh53@hotmail.com

Re: Carpe Sunshine
Great post Ally and wonderful pix...i love this one, as u be lookin' bad!!
Isn't Yachats where the aliens were gonna beam up a bunch of folks... I seem to remember something about a group of people that wanted to be beamed up and were disappointed when it didn't happen...or did it?? Anyway, i think when the sun shines (all 60 days per year) Oregon can't be beat!! It is green for a reason that's for sure. My mom lives in PDX and my son and my sis, so i have great reason to visit. I want to ride up this year so will send you a pm and maybe we can hook up along the way!! Thanks for the pix and tale...i enjoyed riding with ya today!! d |
