4 counties, great day! Central California Ride!
It was damp and chilly when I started out early this morning from Santa Maria, Ca. I headed out Hwy 166 in the fog: (San Luis Obispo County)
![]() 30 miles East I broke out of the wetness. I decided to take a short run up Sierra Madre Road and have a look. (Santa Barbara County) ![]() The road was dry and green, but hasn't been graded yet and there are some toe-grabbin ruts that run across the road in numerous places. This section was great: and there were some nice wildflowers still around to boot: ![]() I stopped at a fav. spot to get an overlook of the Cuyama Valley, where I was headed. Still kinda misty at 8:30 am out there: ![]() I went south on Hwy 33 from 166 and headed up Lockwood Valley Road, where I checked out the Reyes Creek crossing, just a couple of miles East of 33. It looks funky, but is in reality only a few inches deep: (Ventura County) ![]() I spoke briefly to this fellow who was having 2nd thoughts, but I rode through it on the GS and he had no trouble on his Beemer either: ![]() On out Lockwood Valley Road for some great mountainous terrain: ![]() More excellent scenery off Lockwood Valley Road: ![]() ...and more local color: ![]() Most of this area is at 5,000 ft or so, BTW. At the end of Lockwood Valley Road, I went up Mil Potrero Road and over to Pine Mountain. There is still some snow at the higher elevations, but the air was clear and clean. Very refreshing, for sure. ![]() Coming down of Cerro Noroeste Road, I spoke with this rider on his new Moto Guzzi. What a gorgeous bike: (Kern County) ![]() Finally, a stop at the Cuyama Buckhorn for a burger and this grand finale. What a gas!

Re: 4 counties, great day.
Great lookin' ride Walt! Seems a lot of us have similar pictures lately to this one.
![]() The one I took of riders going through the water a few days ago was on San Marcos Rd, outside of Paso Robles.
