Great photos. Looked like a fun road to ride and it appeared to be a nice for it. Well, did you count the number of turns? Were there 111?

That's a great road. 11 fun-filled miles. I drive that every fall on the way to and from our annual elk hunt. I have yet to get the bike up there. Too bad the Mist store is gone...would have made a very nice backdrop for a picture.

Thanks for the post. Great pics and story--I can't count when I'm "in the
moment" either.

I'm planning to ride Astoria to Crescent City ride sometime this summer, and was considering Hwy 47. Now I'm PLANNING on Hwy 47.

Re: My ride on #47 to Mist, Oregon

Its was like 10 years ago I tripped over this road when just wandering around coming back from Astoria. didn't have much time to take it all in Now that I come back one thing I noticed was the logging in the area. from south of the pass to Mist pretty much logged off and Yes though there was a cool building that it too is gone. so much for progress. Look forward to making a right onto 202 helding to Jewel taking it up and down over to 26 at Elsie take that road ovet to #53. looks to be one heck of a nice route. Going to be a great summmer.

I think you are referring to the Mist Store. It burned down a few years back and they did not rebuild. There is a quaint, old store a few miles west on 202 in Birkenfeld.

Picture of the Birkenfeld Country Store from my hunt last November:
