Saturday Ride to Bellville - Texas Style!

Here's my first Pashnit ride report - go easy on me guys!

Joyce and I took our first long distance “team” ride this weekend. We expanded a run that I have been doing up to Racer Road to now include a jaunt up to Bellville. Total trip length was right at 110 miles.



First picture opportunity was just outside of Simonton on the first leg of the loop. Spotted a nice barn for a back drop as we zipped by and I decided to turn around and go back for some shots. First shot is the required Ninja 650R beauty pose – in Silver of course!



Followed that shot up with one of Joyce astride her new Vulcan 500. The little Kawasaki has quite a bit of punch and she has no trouble keeping up with the larger 650R – at least in normal driving. I can pull away very quickly when I want to, but I tend to miss excellent photo opportunities when I do.



Same location – just me in my Darth Vader / Storm Trooper attire. Notice if you will the new Sidi Evo Air Boots and First Gear Mesh-Tex pants. I give both products two thumbs up – WAY UP! Boots have vents that let in a good flow of air – they were very cool even in the hot Texas sun. Had quite a few June bugs try their luck on the boots – they lost.

New Pants are mesh and flowed very well – nice and cool. Also had a zippered pocket on the upper leg above the knee. That was great for stowing change, driver’s license, insurance papers, and even keys when off the bike.

Jacket is mesh also. I swear it “feels” cooler riding with the Jacket and Pants than when you are in a t-shirt and jeans.



Destination – the town square in Bellville. Nice small town with plenty of antique and craft stores for those who lean that way. Joyce said we can’t buy much as it wouldn’t fit on the bike. Only serious incident on the trip was a bee sting to the neck while I was following Joyce. The dang bee got me good and I had to pull off and strip down a bit to make sure he/she was done. By the time Joyce discovered I was missing and found a place to turn around I had already suited back up and was trying to catch up. Lots of curves in this area showed the value of a good communication system. She kept thinking I was just out of sight in the curves. We’ll have to add communicators to our arsenal of toys…er, I mean tools.
