California tour
I plan on a tour of California in June and would like to show my planned route and get any ideas for changes that would be better. All ideas will be appreciated.
I will leave Austin Tx and get on I-10 and try to make Calif. in two days. Will ride fast to get out of the heat in Tex and Az. I will start my Calif. ride on Hwy2 (angles crest) and then 210 to Santa Clarita, 126 to Santa Paula and 150 to Ojai. Take 33 to McKitrick and then 58 to 41 to Morro Bay. Take hwy 1 all the way to Legett then 101 to Crescent City. 199 into O'brien Oregonand drop down to Happy Camp Calif. 96 to Willow Creek and 299 to Weaverville. 3 to Peanut and 36 thru Red Bluff over to Dales. A6 to to 44 and thru Lassen on 89 thru to Quincy. 162 to Oroville and 70 to Marysville. 20 to Nevada city and 49 to 89 to Truckee. stay with 89 all the way to 395 the on 120 thru Yosemite to 49. 49 down to 41. 41 to 180 and thru Kings/Sequoia and 198 to I-99. Work my way oveer to I-40 and back home. Will try to camp for a couple of days and motel on every 3rd night or so. Any help or changes in my route will be appreciated. Bob |

Re: California tour
Sound simliar to what I'm doing but from Colorado and doing it in reverse. I'm a little worried about Tioga being open. Make sure you hit La Port Rd right outside of Quincy and instead of taking 41 through Oakhurst and then down to Fresno, go to North fork, Auberry Rd, Trimmer SpringsRd etc...is a great way to get from Yosemite to Seqoia. Don't foget the passes above Yosemite, if there're open.

Re: California tour
Thanks for the information on Tioga pass being closed. I will alter my route and use hwys 108 and 49 to get to the park. Will also Use route suggested by XXRider on exit of Kings/Sequoia. Thank again
