Artist Painting Some Memorial Day Sites and Sights around Sacramento

Hi,

I went on a short ride around town this weekend, and here are a few pics of my little jaunt.

It was a beautiful spring day with pleasant temps and lots of bright sunshine. My first stop was the capitol grounds.

Arnold's office.

Some Bikes

After meandering around the capitol, it was two shakes of a lamb's tail to Old Sacramento, a touristy collection of ice cream shoppes and souvenir stands on the banks of the Sacramento river.

Old Sac was one of several venues for the Jazz Jubilee and the music lovers were out in force. Those arriving by bike were given choice parking. Most bikes in the lot were dripping in chrome. There were a few other types as well.

Lotsa chrome.

My fav of the bunch.

I chatted with Travis, the owner, he has put over 100K mi on this 2001 model with no major hiccups. The tank holds something like 11 gallons of fuel! I have a new found appreciation for BMWs.

Some Rivers and such.

My mount for this ride happened to be my bicycle, but to keep it kinda moto related, later that day, I took my wife out for a quick scoot on the VFR. I only recently purchased a second helmet and this was her first time on my bike. It was quite an exhilarating experience for her!

See ya,

Gary

Re: Some Memorial Day Sites and Sights

Those were some really nice photos of the sites and sights of your area. On that BMW, did you say 11 gallons? I don't think the new ones have that much capacity.

Very nice Gary, haven't been to the capital building in Sacramento in quite a while. Great shot!

Very nice. Close as that is to me, I've never spent any time exploring Sacramento.

The owner of that BMW happened to be perched on the split rail next to the bike, sipping a bottled water (while I suspect most of the cruiser guys were inside chugging Buds) so I got to chat with him a bit.

The tank and hardbags are aftermarket add-ons. I just googled 'Touratech' and found out that you, too, can have your very own GS1150 41 liter (10.8 gallon) tank for msrp $1300.

Hey!
Thanks for the kind word about "Blue". Glad you enjoyed him.

A friend sent me the link to this posting after he recognized him in the photo.
It was very nice to meet you and I hope to see you around again.. perhaps on your VFR. (grin)
