Repost ........ GPS woes and a nice ride out
Andy [ Lives near Hinckley ] agreed to ride to my house , to install the software for my new Garmin GPS onto my pc ..a few phone calls later George and Kathy [ Nottingham ] and John [ never met him before today , but have spoken on the phone , lives in Hertfordshire ] had also agreed to come over , with a view to going for a ride once the pc work was done ........... here are the bikes at my place ...........
George , Kathy and John bravely sit out in the garden , whilst Andy fights a losing battle with the software .......... Two hours later , we decided to give up and ride .so I led the way to Stow , before George took over , taking us to our destination ............. the lovely village of Offenham ........which has a Maypole ........... and is celebrating something ............. The bikes , trying to find some shade .......... After dismounting , John led us [ nay , frogmarched us ] up the street in a vain attempt to find a pub so we could grab a bite to eat and drink ......... A nice village , with some interesting buildings and transport ..... We eventually found that the pub was half a miles ride away , so , perspiring in the heat , we got back on the bikes and rode onward to the pub , which was by a river ....... Here , we scoffed and drank , before setting off for home due to time constraints , parting at Stow , where I led John back to my house [ it is closer to his place ] and Andy and George went off in the other direction . A nice day out ......... in the end . I had to send an e-mail to Garmin Tech support , and will keep you posted on the outcome ...once I can get someone with technical knowledge to assist again !! I'd like to thank everyone , in particular Andy for spending all that time on my computer , and John for trying to explain [ in layman terms ] what all the bits in the box are for -....not forgetting George , who has very kindly volunteered to do the GPS to bike install [ along with the fitting of a couple of PIAA bulbs ] , as long as I ride to Nottingham ........... sounds a fair deal to me . The friendship and knowledge these guys show and share is fantastic !! Steve Steve

Cool pics. Thanks for posting. Can't be sure but that looks like a Nuffield 4/65 tractor? The old farm boy in me is showing.

Steve: as usual, great photos. Everything looked so quaint and peaceful. Looked like someone had triplets in the photo of the bikes looking for shade. Who had the weird blue one?

The weird one ....is an 1150 RT - 2 yrs old , 30k on the clock , belonging to Andy [ he is one clver bloke ] ........... it gets cleaned once a year ........when he gets a man in to do it !! The busy looking 1200 RT belongs to George [ Kathy is his wife and they are inseparable .they ride everywhere together , and a faster rider and pillion you will be hard fetched to find ].......... the rucksack on the back of their bike is a bespoke Beemer item , and a ver smart piece of kit . I am lucky to count them amongst my friends . Steve

GPS software is now installed............

UPDATE : Andy just spent an hour on the phone to me talking me through the e- mail I got from Garmin to get the GPS software [ believe me , that MUST HAVE BEEN hard work for him ] ...and now it is working properly ...........the next stage is a training session [or 500 ] at my house to show me how to use it .................. and then the problem of fitting it to the bike ......... I think I'm gonna need a dashboard mount .TOP BLOKE ..there's no way I could have done this on my own .Steve Chuffed to bits ......................

Whats up with you guys? ...No pride in your own country's products? You should all be riding Triumph Sprints instead of those BMW's. Especially Andy, living near Hinckley and all.
Just kidding.. those R bikes are AWESOME! |

Andy did have a Trump Trophy 1200 .....he said the engine was a peach , but that it was a bit heavy ........... and the mpg was awful ...so he got an RT1150 . Steve
