Thumbup Okay, I feel MUCH better now!

In recent months I've really started feeling much better deep down inside after last year's two disasters. Last year on April 19th my father died suddenly, and three months later it was my fiance's turn to go. Not by death, which ironically I think I could've dealt with more effectively; no, for her it was a last minute betrayal of me. She cheated! Yeah, I know that it would've been far worse if I'd married her. But just the same it was tough. I'd known her since high school. That's 22 years of my life, in a way, I've had to throw out. But karma has struck her. She's been on her family's list since they found out. But enough of that. Life is about the present based upon lessons learned and experience gained from the past, and I've moved on and recovered. Other people around me seem to know instinctively I'm on the mend. Everybody's been saying to me, "Well, you're looking happy and healthy!", even people who I've not seen in years, and unaware of what's happened.
But here's the best part: two weeks ago my dentist's assistant asked me out! I'd been working up the courage to ask her, but she beat me to it. Things happen for a reason, and I know that if I'd met her last year, I don't think anything would've happened, for I was still in deer in the headlights/hit by a truck mode and in no mood for such things. It's a really good sign I've moved on!
Sorry for the long-winded write-up, but I wanted to share this with you all. I've come to know you guys (and gals) over the months I've been a member of this great site (thanks Tim), and I consider everybody here my friends and extended family. And riding has helped most of all I think. My brother in law, a former rider himself, calls a good ride "brain clearing" and he's right. Well, if things get serious with her, I'll have to teach her to ride and get her a bike!
Anyway, my first date with her is on Saturday, the first of many I hope! I'll update later.

Amazing how emotional stability can affect how you feel.

Re: Okay, I feel MUCH better now!

Woah, easy there cowboy, don't go pushing her into motorcycling so quickly.

Although my wife loves to ride passenger, she has absolutely no desire to ride her own bike. We have a great time when we are together on the bike, and I love that feeling you can only get while riding around with the girl of your dreams holding on tight. She also understands my love for motorcycling and doesn't give me one second of grief when I want to spend the day out riding with the boys.

My wife has been to most of the races at Laguna Seca for the past 8 years. It's probably not really her thing but she sure understands that it's a big part of my life. I feel very blessed that I have a wife who understands these needs and who also looks forward to the relaxing times spend on the bike. But I also understand that she has no desire to get behind the bars and take to the streets and I respect her wishes by not pressuring her to do so.

Congratulations on the new beginning, I hope all goes well. The past few years have been tough for me too, but thanks to good friends and family I have persevered.

Tacky, no-class reply: Will she wear her nurse outfit?

Serious reply: It sounds like you've got a great outlook and not dwelling on the past, but simply learning from it, is the best way to move forward. Make sure she knows that she has to pass muster from all of us!

Well, there goes my plan to tie her to a chair and force her to watch my Faster DVDs!

It's amazing isn't it? How we survive stuff? There was a time last year I was literally physically sick from it all, but I got through it. I think part of my problem was that I wasn't objective, and I let my guard down. My father I could understand. He had a good, long life and accomplished much, but it was time for him to go, and he didn't suffer too much. But my ex? Something went very very wrong with her. However recently she has reaped what she has sown. She's paying a very high price for what she did. I figure God gave me a test. I hope I passed!

Sorry, but I don't have a nurse outfit fetish. But I do have a French maid outfit fetish, so if all goes well, I'll have to sneak down to the uniform supply to get her one...

Thanks. To bare my soul a bit more, my phyisician ordered me to seek professional help, which lasted from August to March, which really helped a lot, so for those reluctant to go that route, go for it! But he told me that even when the recovery is well along, that the emotions of it all are going to come in waves. Ironically a good friend of mine told me exactly the same thing! He said that I'm going to hear a song on the radio, see a movie title, a freeway exit even, that are reminders of the happy times with her, and they're both right, even now. It happened last night, in fact. I was listening to music, and sure enough, it happened.... an old Ultravox song (If) and I just came unglued. But I didn't repress it. I let it happen, and I felt better afterward. Well, there you go..... the giver of The Dead Mackerel Stare(tm) has a soft, emotional spot!
And for my change in circumstances, her name is Suzanne by the way, if all goes well, I'll post pictures and tell you all more about her, to make sure she passes muster with y'all. But I think she will, for I've got good instincts about her.

See what eating Oreo's before your teeth cleaning can do!

I'm kind of partial to the Naughty School Girl outfit or Little Bo Peep... but make sure you take lots of pictures and report back.

Actually you have good sence of humour and I am glad that life is good again. Good luck on your date.
