Dixon Vintage M/C Show.

Yesterday I took my son Mitchell for a ride to Dixon to experience the "Vintage Motorcycle Show" that is sponsored by the Fort Sutter Motorcycle Club Of America. It is an annual event and this year they were paying tribute to British Iron.

Mitchell is my first born (will be 49 next month) and born Down Syndrome http://www.ndss.org/ and he is home for a couple of weeks so we can take him on a vacation. He has always loved to ride with me on my scooters and revels in anything on two wheels.

I wrote about his story last fall that some of you might remember. http://www.pashnit.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3664

We plan on going to San Diego for a week to share with him all the sights in that area but back to the vintage bikes. There was every thing there from pure junk to better than new.

Found a beemer for Donna and a mate to Marties bike.

The president of the Fort Sutter M/C Club is Rich Hardmeyer and you might remember him form a story I posted last year http://www.pashnit.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3407 about vintage bike restoration.

I will post a few pictures to give you a flavor of this annual event and hope that many of you will choose to visit it yourself next year. First two pictures are of Mitch with Dad and second uncle Wes...........Ken

Thanks for the report, Ken! Lotta fun bikes in excellent shape. And some not so fun (read=scary) bikes, too. A BMW for Donna, eh? Is that Beater Motorcycle Wannabe?

Nice pics, Ken! I´d love to have one of those Bonnevilles from the late sixties. I guess they were the sportbikes of their time. It´s sad that most of those brands didn´t survive.....

Re: Dixon Vintage M/C Show.

There's a local dealer in the town I'm working in here in Alabama that sells Royal Enfields. Interesting bikes. The 2006 models look pretty much the same as they did in 1956.

Re: Dixon Vintage M/C Show.

Ken some how I missed this post...
I sure wish I could have been there, looks like a great day, all the better to spend it with your son, great Father/ Son time. I know my brother in law wanted to go to the event, but he had prior comitments. Wait till I show him this post and the photos of all the old iron. Looks like he could have picked up some extra parts and new rusty stuff to store in his barn....heck I could have gotten some new rusty stuff to bring up north! Second thought probably good I couldn't attend. They only allow 50lbs on the Airiplane.

Gary...
Being both a BMW and a Harley Davidson owner, and you and an about to be BMW owner, I will let you in on a secret...

H.D. in the parts and service world stands for Hundred Dollars. That seems to be about the smallest number they know.

B.M.W. stands for Bring More Wampum. If you think you are going to get out of the parts/service counter for $100 wait till they do the currency conversion!
