Any women riders &/or riders near Vallejo, CA ??

I'm trying to find out just how many people here are other women riders - our user names don't usually give that away! Mostly a curiosity thing, I guess. That whole girl power thing you know

Also, looking for people (guys too!) in or around Vallejo who may be interested in some smaller, local rides. We're very new to the area, and money is tight (hence, no long rides that include meals out at this point), and we would like to get to know some of the local area a little better. If anyone would be interested in some short, spur-of-the-moment rides when schedules would actually work out, please let me know!

Just a thought, if you can strap a small cooler on the bike, pack a picnic lunch and you will not be limited to short rides unless you prefer it that way.

Re: Women riders &/or riders near V-town

AJ,
I've found more of us women riders on this forum than on just about any other I've perused. If I knew how to refer you to links in a post I would (but I'm a dork and I don't) but I started a thread called "Those Crazy Pashnit Gals" about 2 months ago that details me, fishwitch and bikerduck getting together on a way spur of the moment ride. I also note more and more of us women winding up on this site.

On a motorcycle is a great way to get to know the area, and by all means, pack a lunch and water, and stay out a long time. There are some good rides up the Napa vally, not too far from where you are, or up/down the coast. Not to mention Skyline Blvd.

Hi AJ, nice to know another female rider.

Ally, I have not had a chance to visit your aunt's shop yet. But I will soon.....

Hey there. Kimber99 and I live about 30 minutes from you in Petaluma near the coast. We have some awesome riding (as well as some great picnic areas).

There are several women riders in the area. The biggest challenge is coordinating schedules.

Where did you move from?

Re: Any women riders &/or riders near Vallejo, CA ??

Hello AJ!!

I am in Folsom and think it is probably high time to organize some sort of "girly ride". I know many great roads in the gold country and I have had the privilege of riding with Doni on the coast where there are also some great roads.

Lets talk girls and get something organized!!!

John's idea works well for me. I have a very small soft cooler bag,
size is about: 2 beverage, 2 sandwiches, 1 small ice pack, max.

I add or subtract from this depending on the length of my ride, (timewise)

example:

half/day: I may only bring say, 1 beverage, 1 sandwich,
or if temperatures are high, extra beverage, bottle water.

full/day: I may bring 2 beverage, 2 sandwiches, and augment
this with other food that can survive without cooling for a day
or so, such as a bag of nuts, a hard apple, raisons, and so on.

The thing is, there is no perfect recipie for what to bring.
You will have to decide, depending on the length of your ride,
and the weather conditions, and how much you like to eat, ha.ha,
what is right for you.

You can do fairly long rides on a tight budget, without "eating out"
and the best part is its kinda nice because you can stop anywhere,
anytime, at any scenic spot you fancy.

When's lunch? whenever you want it.
Where's lunch? where ever you decide.

AJ here are a couple other forums to check for rides:
http://www.bayarearidersforum.com/forums/index.php?s= BARF members are not all Corner Nazis and there are a number of women riders. They also sponsor newbie rides, riding clinics and the girls get together occasionally.

http://www.sporttouring.info/
This is a small group who are mostly in the Fairfield area which is very close to you. Look around on the site.....click on the "Where to Ride" button, Halfwing has a number of loops already plotted out for you if you want to get to know the roads local to you. There are also videos of the roads that are on the loops so you get an idea of what the roads are like. Most of the posters are also BARF members.

If I'd have checked sooner could've met up with ya today as I did Skaggs, Annapolis, up Hwy 1 and back in on Hwy 128, then up and over Hopland Grade (HWY 175) to home. No lunch for me, fasting today for medical stuff on Monday. Boy am I hungry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hope this helps. Oh and there is a ride planned next Sunday that would be easy for you to hook up with. No one is ever left behind and if one gets lost we all get lost.

Just so there's no confusion I'm not female but my wife is
