2006 Rumble to the Summit: First Photos!
Today was the annual Rumble to the Summit through Clovis, Ca, and up to Sierra Summit, to raise money for the Make-a-Wish foundation. I posted myself along Clovis Avenue in the heart of downtown Clovis to get these pics of the big parade which is the biggest motorcycle event in Clovis.
By my estimates, over three bikes went past each second for a solid twenty minutes, That works out to over 3600 motorcycles. This run is coordinated partly by the local H.O.G. chapters, and so you can imagine that 99% of them were Harleys, but every common make of bike was in evidence in some respect or another. See the photos here: http://forum.motorcycle-usa.com/defa...0&m=271097&p=1

Re: Rumble to the Summit: first photos!
Or see the photos here...
![]() Old Town Clovis wakes up slowly this morning. I find a prime parking spot for Baggins, and a prime spot to photograph the bikes for myself. Some Old Town Clovis architecture Bikes start arriving in town in packs, heading for the rally point at Sierra Vista Mall. By 9:00 the morning is already getting hot, and just a small breeze stirrs the air. About 9:20, Clovis P.D. starts clearing the street for the parade. About 9:40 the police escort is seen coming up the block. Followed by the Fire Chief in his beautiful old truck. "Dang! We're really in the big parade!" Big Hogs rumble up Clovis Ave., as far as the eye can see. More Hogs. And more Hogs. And more! I ran out of batteries before I ran out of Hogs. "Hey! Who invited the guy on the dirt bike?" There were some sportbikes too. And Goldies. A Valkyrie or two. A few metric cruisers. And even this guy on a scooter! It's hard not to look cool with this crowd. "Marge, I think that boy's takin' our picture!" There were many trikes but I only caught a few. "Is it legal if the bars are longer than the forks?" A lot of flags were flying today. A new "old" springer. Goldies and apes. The last few riders depart town The Sweep riders and Clovis P.D. bring up the tail The Nomad looks lonely now that it's the last bike in Clovis. |

Re: Rumble to the Summit: first photos!
Entirely my pleasure, Greg! I know from experience that when you get to posting photos, they're gonna be good!
Reallllly fun to see this collection of bikes. Now I can imagine what it would be like on one of these giant runs. They're not my thing, but it's obvious people are out enjoying themselves! Ummm, so do scooters actually rumble? Or do they have to have drilled pipes? Thanks for a great post, Cadd! |

![]() This is one day when everybody takes out their baffles and makes as much noise as possible, and the P.D. ignore it. They will probably make $250,000 for Make-A-wish this year.

Re: 2006 Rumble to the Summit: First Photos!
There is a coffee shop on the east side of Clovis Ave between 4th & 5th that was baking cinimon buns the whole time I was standing there waiting to take the photos, and it was simply driving me nuts.
