Shrug conversion of microsoft streets to garmin?

I could have sworn I once found a thread talking about converting microsoft streets & trips files to one you could upload to garmin's mapsource. I think it was ST2GPX?? But I tried searching for the thread and can't find it.

I would like to be able to convert a MS S&T .est map to a .gdb one I can then load into Garmin's mapsource. Can anyone help me out?

TIA,

Do you have Streets and Trips, or just an .est file? Inside the program the Help file has info on moving data to your GPS.

Quote:
Configure a GPS receiver
To configure your GPS receiver, you must already have your GPS receiver connected to your computer.

On the Tools menu in Streets & Trips, point to GPS, and then click Configure GPS Receiver.

-or-

Click GPS Task Pane . Next, in the GPS task pane, click Configure GPS.

Click Scan to have Streets & Trips find the port with the GPS device connected.
When the correct port is highlighted in the Available ports box, click OK.

Re: conversion of microsoft streets to garmin?

My version of Streets & Trips (2203) has limited GPS connectivity. For one thing it wants the unit to be on a COM port and mine (a garmin 2610 model) connects through USB.

Hmm, I don't have a GPS unit so I can't test with MSS&T 2005 to determine whether it wants to find the serial or USB port. You could try an adapter. Here's one that I think may be the opposite of what you need, but the site has 100+ various adapters: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16812156016.

Hey..

I believe this is what you want.

http://franson.com/gpsgate/guide.asp...s&platform=ppc

It makes the Garmin NMEA compatible so it will work with MS Streets.

Google is your friend.

first hit googling ST2GPX

http://www.gpsbabel.org/st2gpx/st2gpx.html

this does look pretty cool. It takes a MS Streets file and converts to a GPX file, which Mapsource will read. After that, we will see. I would like this!

Re: conversion of microsoft streets to garmin?

I have just the opposite question in mind.....

Can you convert a Garmin track or route file into MS Streets and Trips?

I have Mapsource and have kicked around the idea of getting ms S&T just so I can paste the cool screen shots on ride reports.

Has anyone tried this?
