Jump at the "Pflanzgarten" section. Unfortunately it was too dark to take good pics.

Very nice photos, Daniel!!

I guess I'll ask the obvious... why have people been painting on what looks like a closed track? And why are there so many street vehicles out there? Is it open to the public and free of charge to run the track?

Love the smily knee puck...

Cool Stuff.

Wish we had something to rival that out here on the Left Coast.

Second picture looks like a new Cadillac in testing.

I also guessed that the second one is a Cadillac, but I´m still wondering from which manufacturer the small convertible could be. Any ideas? BMW?

AMG and BMW were there too

I enjoyed the pictures of the ring and the ride home. Thanks for posting.

Gary, check out wikipedia. Down towards the bottom they talk about the public access sessions. According to the article they will actually get busses and cars with trailers out there. There are also some additional links at the bottom of the article that are interesting.

Re: Pics from Nürburgring (bikes and cars)

One of my fondest memories is of driving the Nurburgring. I thrashed a poor little BMW 316i rental car to within an inch of its life!! Wife hanging on for dear life, hatchback full of luggage... That IS living.
Perhaps the most vivid image is when I was flying (for me) by a tourist bus just as a Porsche Turbo went flying by me. I was going about 100km faster than the bus, and the Turbo was going about 100km faster than me!!
Sadly I only did 3 laps. By the time my laps were complete I was just starting to feel comfortable with the track. At least I wasn't drifting wildly towards the outside of a corner because I had entered it far too fast.
I wonder if BMW or Ducati has a European delivery program? That would be fun.

The great variety of cars and bikes is what I love about the "Ring". You can see anything from tourist busses to 800hp Turbo Porsches and from two strokers to litre bikes on the track. It never gets boring..
I know that at least BMW has a delivery program (Mercedes, Porsche and Audi too). You get some special export plates and then you can drive around Germany for some time, before they ship your car to the states. I sometimes see cars with those plates at the Nurburgring.

At first I thought the convertible was the new VW based on the Jetta, but after comparing photos, the lines are all wrong. I'm at a loss.

In your second posting of pictures, there is a black BMW touring wagon. I fell in love with those type cars when I lived in Germany. If it was within my reach, I would immediately trade my pickup for one of those sporty wagons.

Those sporty wagons are indeed very popular here. I think it all started with the Audi RS2, which was developed by Porsche. (5 cylinder turbo, 315 hp)

And later the RS4 (V6 biturbo, 380 hp)

I wouldn´t mind to own one of them...
Just for towing bikes, you know.....

Nice shots. In 15 and 16, the Beemer looks like it's rear wheels are off the ground. What happened? Pic 7 looks like me on my gixxer.
