Mt. Rainier and Mt. St. Helens

Took a nice little 330 mile ride yesterday to what, IMHO, is the "Deals
Gap" of Washington State - NF99 to Windy Ridge. It was certainly among
my top ten days of motorcycling. Great weather, no traffic and, best
of all, NO LEOs! It was a good day to work on my "fast and smooth"
technique. I also got to use all of the tread on the sides of my
tires. :-)

It's definitely a road worth seeking out - just make sure you hit it on a weekday, The difference is like night and day. If you approach from the south, start at Carson, WA on the Columbia River and head up Wind River Road (a good road in itself) and then head up the southern part of 25. I guaranteee you'll enjoy it.

Sweet!! Everyone makes such a big deal out of Deals Gap but there are so many more roads that have no traffic, scenery for miles and what appears to be just as many twisties. Like this one! And look! No semi trucks to take ALL the road.

Great photos. Makes me wanna cruise up there now!

Re: Mt. Rainier and Mt. St. Helens

That looks great... could you give me the details of your route as I am planning what I call the Volcano Run from SF to Oregon to WA whereby I am passing by many volcanic spots on the Cascades such as Mt Lassen, Mt Shasta, Crater Lake, Mt Baker, Mt Hood, Mt Rainier and Mt St. Helens - here is the link http://www.pashnit.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6311
