ride to windy ridge,wa observation area

on the way out i secured a drz400s

we were on sportbikes for the fun twisties

group photo w/poor mans' fisheye

from observation lot

as fate would have it i found out this lil jewel was still available & decided to go for it

what a fun bike (it'll look better w/out the stickers)

& now i've decided to part w/the superhawk ing

things worked out great in the end as another motivated party was able to get the drz-s within hours of listing it for sale
anyway. i realized the expense of making the s w/motardish mode was to expensive than turning the sm into more adventure oriented mode. already have a clarke tank in blk on the way...........

))))help stomp out engine configuration prejudice((((

images enhanced to protect the innocent & for fun

how do i like the sm. hmmmm...... my first owned streetbike was a gpz305 for all practical purposes a ninja250 before their day. my first dirtbike was a yz80 then graduated to an rm125. dirtbikes were childhood yrs. it's essentially a combination of the two platforms rolled into one reliable, flickable easy to maintain package. anything goes wrong w/the front end, just hit the throttle & it easily pulls out of it. it's one of those bikes that you're in a state of constant giddyness. the corner speeds appear to be @ a higher rate than many of the modern sportbikes. your buddy on his full ohlins r whatever; will never feel the same while your camping on their tail or pulling away in the tight stuff......... it's drzeelicious. oh?? did i mention the gas mileage??? i've been getting nearly 40 mpg w/aggressive riding & well over 50mpg when taking it easy. top speed breaks the century mark, while fully tucked on level asphalt. i haven't really explored much of it's offroadness, but have read it will do it all. i plan on getting motocross wheels for whenever i'm just out to do trailriding. the clarke tank is 3.9 gallons so should be good for 180 moderately ridden miles.
i haven't owned or ridden a bike i want to ride as much as the drz in the last 15 yrs. none of these are as fun to ride...... 750k6,'01vtr1k,'03vfr,gpz550,cbr600f4i,998 the list could go on, but the bottom line is this bike is affordable to acquire, easy to maintain a joy to ride & parts availablity is outstanding. easy to get serviced or find someone to service, cheap to insure w/full coverage & high limits......

))))we must put an end to engine configuration racism((((
