Sherpa Camping to the Oregon Coast

This was kind of a spur of the moment idea. A vast aray of weekend plans fell through last weekend, and on Thursday at about 4:30 p.m. we decided to take off for another Sherpa trip. I went down to the garage and loaded all the camping gear in my pick-up, packed and loaded the bike bags, and went to work. My Sherpa buddies, Kelly and Mary, came and got the truck, took it home, and loaded their stuff (including the food, for which I am grateful!).

They took off at about noon on Friday; I had a radiation appointment at 8:30 am, slept and got up at about 2, and we were on the road by about 3. Once again, it was windy on the coast, so much so that the port-a-john is listing severely!

A photo of the loaded truck, then us arriving on the bikes. Karyn has to wait while I negotiate the parking.

Two camping things of note: Mary got a cool oven that goes on the Coleman stove. We had cornbread one night and brownies the next. Pretty cool camping treats. She also made a kilt, that I got to model. Interesting.

Here we are leaving. It looks much colder than it is, and less wind.

This is in Yachats, just before our departure. Note the return of the hair, gray though it is. I think I rival LawDawg at the moment...minus the 'stache.

Once again, a great camping trip with the support of the Sherpas. More mototherapy, and keeping me in good health.

Ya got me on the hair cut Ally...

Note to self; Get a hair cut (it's almost 1/3 inch long on the top...slacker).

Ah, Oregon at its finest. Looks like the campground I stopped at in 1974, it had Rhododendrons everywhere, Did yours?. Good mototherapy, indeed. Keep up the reports!

You know Ally, that Sherpa camping looks pretty good and I can see that things only got better.

Why you ask?

The porto-a-john was in an upright position when you left to go home.

Moto-therapy best medicine around...........Ken

Ally, I love that kilt. My friend John Brennan, also wears kilt to go anywhere (shopping, movies, cooking). Am glad he does not wear it for riding....

::Sigh:: Oregon....I"ll be in Brookings during Thanksgiving week with the family. It can't come soon enough. I only wish I could take the bike.

What a wonderful looking camping outing Ally! Hope to see more of them in the future!!

Ally, looks like a great trip and that sherpa camping is the way to go. Good to see you're well on your way to full health too.

I've only spent a weeeee amount of time along the OR coast. It's very beautiful. Just where along the coast were you? I don't see Yachats on my big wall map here at work. And a girl's gotta dream.

Oh and quit tipping those outhouses! It's not fun for the person inside.

Ally only forgot one thing: when you find it on a map, you have to be able to pronounce it! Yaw (rhymes with jaw) Hots.
