Crying Northern California Coast on a Harley Heritage Softail

Here's a third photostory....pics were shot October 2004. Rented a Harley Heritage Softail...first and only time on a Harley. Shot several rolls of film using my trusty ol' Nikon 8008, but had a problem with the camera and many pics were ruined or had fogging along one edge. I was shooting 800 speed film for a grainy look and the fogging on some of the salvaged pics can still be seen. Trip was basically north of SF up to Mendocino and some of the side roads (Scaggs Springs, Stewarts Point, Highway 12, 1, 128). Watch closely and you'll see some familiar locations like the entrance to Stewarts Point Rd, Meyer's grade, the road leading to Point Arena lighthouse and others.

I planned that trip shortly after finding a really cool website called "pashnit.com" back in the day. I thought to myself, "I gotta go do that" and used information I got from this very website. Otherwise, never would have known about some of those roads. Anyway, this is a little payback for helping me have a fun trip. Enjoy!

The music is Michelle Shocked, "The L&N Don't Stop Here Anymore". Seemed to fit with the desolate pictures. Just don't start cryin' on me!

Great job, Kent! So many wonderful photos! Enjoyed that a lot...

Personally, I'd like to see it larger than the 320 setting. Maybe consider saving a larger size in future.

My old Dell that I use runs at a screaming 900MHz and the video doesn't play smoothly at anything higher. I thought that the viewer can pick the video size on the Putfile page depending on how fast their computer runs. When I save the file, I have to specify a size that's related to how fast the computer runs, so I wonder if I should specify a larger size when creating the movie? But then I'm hindered with my POS computer not playing it smoothly.

Now some of the pics are smaller because I cropped them to get rid of that fogging. Also cropped some to get a faux panorama effect.

It's definitely the size you are picking when saving the Photo Story. Dunno whether it would render OK at a larger size, and you obviously can't check it since your display doesn't want to keep up! If you care to run a test, render the photo story at a higher quality and post the output on putfile. We can tell ya if it's running smoothly.

I just know I'd love to see those wonderful pix a little bigger!

I'll give that a try and post it on the Putfile site. I've been saving it in the Photo Story program as the smaller video size--guess I need to replace the Vic 20 with something a little faster.

Okay, give this a try. I saved it at the setting recommended for processor speed 1.7 GHz, 256 MB RAM, video size 640x480.

Not bad. It was actually easier to see details in the photos. And, it played back smooth
